Hello Collectors,
Today we offer your private new release pre-arrival sale on one of the Cult Cab buys in all of Napa, Ghost Block's single vineyard Cabernet!
Ghost Block has a massive "insider" following that makes each limited release a guaranteed sellout. It has been served at three Michelin Star restaurant French Laundry, as well as at the White House. Highly coveted by celebrity winemakers, the fruit is 100% Cabernet from the "Ghost Block Vineyard" in Yountville!
The Ghost Block vineyard, named in honor of the historic Pioneer Cemetery on which it borders, is nestled on a gently sloping knoll on the north edge of Yountville. This highly sought after vineyard is composed of 18 acres of unique, rarely found, exposed vertical bedding of tertiary volcanics. It is southeast facing, receiving mid-morning and afternoon sun and cooling in the evening and early morning with down valley marine influence. Planted solely to Cabernet Sauvignon it is 100% certified organic and the crown jewel of the family’s 635 planted acres.
The superstar winemaker of this wine is Kristi Koford, who has been making outstanding wines since the 1970s: first as a microbiologist for Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville. Under the tutelage of Zelma Long, she became senior enologist, directing the work in the cellar and laboratory. To supplement her education, Kristi also took many wine-related courses and seminars at the University of California, Davis. After 10 years at Mondavi, Kristi took four years off and, with her husband, hand-built a timber frame house in the Oakville hills. She returned to wine work as assistant winemaker when St. Supery Winery opened in 1988. In 1997, she became winemaker at Alderbrook Winery and subsequently joined Napa Wine Company in 2001 as production winemaker, which led to her position as winemaker for Ghost Block.
In addition, the 2021 Vintage was an amazing year for Napa Cab: Wine Advocate gave the vintage 93-96 points while Wine Spectator gave it 93-97; Vinous Media went even higher, rating the vintage 95-98 points), with Antonio Galloni saying
"The Two thousand twenty-one is a fabulous vintage in Napa Valley. That’s the good news. The not so good news is that production is down sharply, 30-50% in many cases. A combination of sustained heat and drought, plus the accumulated shocks of 2020, contributed to paltry yields. It was another very early harvest, and yet the wines have tremendous energy as well as finesse."
Our small allocation of this stunning Cabernet will be gone practically overnight through this private sale offer. Get in touch asap and we'll take care of you!
Cheers,
-James Tran
