"Eretz Zavat Chalav Ud’vash" by Eli Gamliel

Shabbat Services

Friday Evening Services

Friday, July 5 at 6:15 (in the CJL at WRT)

Shabbat service features the rituals, melodies and warmth of our congregation. The service includes a sermon or presentation by one of our rabbis, cantors, or special guests. Participate alongside fellow congregants in-person, or join us on any of our live-streaming platforms.

Please join us in welcoming to WRT, Rabbi Alissa Platcow. Rabbi Alissa Platcow joins the clergy team and the congregation of Westchester Reform Temple in the role of Assistant Rabbi. She will be delivering the sermon this Shabbat.

Originally from Brookline, Massachusetts, Rabbi Platcow earned her Bachelor's degrees in Judaic Studies and Jazz Vocal Performance from University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and is an accomplished jazz vocalist and performer. She holds a Certificate in Experiential Education from The Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies where she immersed herself in our tradition’s texts and then made them accessible for children, teens and young adults. Alissa also earned a Certificate of Clinical Pastoral Education from North Shore University Hospital where she provided pastoral care to patients, families and staff.

We can’t wait for her to inspire and be embraced by you, as she becomes a cherished presence on our bimah, in youth and adult education and engagement, and, above all, in your homes and in your hearts. We will all eagerly welcome Alissa and Miranda to our community this summer.

Torah Study

Saturday, July 6 at 9:00 am (in-person in the Sifriyah or Zoom)

Each Shabbat morning we gather informally to read and discuss the week’s Torah portion. The morning begins with a brief Shabbat service at which mourners who wish to say Kaddish are warmly welcomed. The group is led by volunteers, with clergy participation. No prior experience with Torah is necessary.

Meditation with Norm Goldstein

Friday July 12, at 11:00 am (in the CJL Living Room)

Many of us are aware that mindfulness and meditation have become increasingly present in people’s lives as a set of tools to navigate stress, increase calmness and clarity, and to promote joy. We at WRT are excited to be continuing our Meditation Lab, which utilizes Judaism as a context for meditation and explores Jewish meditative techniques. While each of us continues to navigate our emotions and responses to the ongoing crisis in Israel and Gaza, we will also continue to use meditation as a way of creating more space in our hearts and minds.
