Private Virtual Tour

Registration closes October 4
Join the Women of Rodef Sholom and museum educators for a very special 60 minute interactive "visit" to the recreated apartment of the Rogarshevsky Family in New York City!

The Jewish American Rogarshevsky family lived at 97 Orchard Street in 1911, and their story explores how they balanced work, tradition, and culture in the Lower East Side. Through a private Zoom session, you'll see video, images, and primary sources to build the world of the Rogarshevsky family. There will be opportunities to interact and ask questions through chat, with an end of tour Q&A.

An Evening with Rabbi Meredith Cahn
The WRS is pleased to welcome the esteemed Rabbi Meredith Cahn back for a special evening of learning and conversation. Rabbi Cahn has served extensively as a congregational Rabbi, a Hospital Chaplain, a community leader, and a teacher. She believes that "studying in a chevruta (group of two or more people) is exciting, challenging, comforting, and a wonderful place to share, grow and connect to others on a deep level".

Logistics for this magnificent opportunity will be announced soon!

Message from our President
Dear Women of Rodef Sholom and Friends,

I hope you had warm and meaningful holidays with your family and friends despite our odd circumstances. This year, I was especially missing some dear friends’ charming break-the-fast party, with their delicious kugel and the other traditional treats (as well as the lovely company, of course!). For a variety of reasons, neither my husband nor I cooked holiday meals for each other, so I bought some prepared tuna salad and kugel from Whole Foods. They weren’t nearly as good as my friend Margie’s, but I am trying to be flexible and resourceful, with at least some success.

October marks the beginning of Rodef Sholom’s religious school, and I am thrilled to be virtually introducing the wonderful Women of Rodef Sholom to religious school parents with a short video and slide show. I decided to tell my story of discovering the most supportive, smart, funny, experienced, and helpful group of friends imaginable through the WRS after my children’s b’nai mitzvah, just when I desperately needed them: as my children were blossoming into full blown teenagers! I won’t win any Oscars, but I think you might enjoy the slide show, which can be found here.

Also in October is the official WRS opening event on October 18 at 3:30pm – a virtual tour of the amazing Tenement Museum in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, open to all! See all the details above; I hope to see you then!

Lastly for this month, I am nearly ready to vote in the November 3 Federal, state, and local elections! I have investigated the options for all of the ballot measures and candidates, and I have my sample ballot in hand. I’m just waiting for my official ballot. Please join me in letting our voices be heard in these times that are like no others.

We are stronger together.

Sincerely,
Jen Levine, President
