USDA Announces additional assistance for Organic Dairy Farmers

USDA finally announced additional assistance for organic dairy farmers! This announcement comes as farmers continue to face drought, skyrocketing feed costs, market consolidation and unstable global inflation. Farmers, trade organizations and stakeholders have been calling on Congress to provide some financial relief for our farmers and there is finally some light coming our way!

On January 24, 2023, the Organic Dairy Marketing Assistance Program (ODMAP) was announced by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA). The plan that has been speculated is to base the distribution on production up to 5 million pounds. However, the details of how and when the dispersal will take place are still up in the air.

WODPA has participated in many conversations to ensure money is fairly distributed among organic farms across America. We will continue to provide updates as they come available, and we promise to continue fighting for better long term solutions.

A LEGACY is the summation of a lifetime of achievement and the context in which that lifetime will be remembered. Planning an Ag Legacy should include discussion of all five components of a true legacy: values and life lessons, personal possessions of emotional value, fulfilling final wishes and instructions, ownership of financial assets and real estate, and management succession.
