WITCHDUCK RAMP CLOSURE SCHEDULED THIS WEEKEND
Detour in place while interchange improvements are underway
VIRGINIA BEACH –  As progress continues on the I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements Project, a ramp on the Witchduck Road interchange with I-264 east is scheduled to close to traffic this weekend, with a detour in place.

Beginning as early as 10 p.m. on Friday, March 27, and continuing through Monday, March 30, at 5 a.m., crews will close the on-ramp from southbound Witchduck Road to I-264 east .

This closure will allow crews to safely mill, grade and pave along the ramp from southbound Witchduck Road to I-264 east. When the ramp reopens to traffic, motorists will be driving on a temporary new alignment to facilitate continued improvements on this ramp, as part of the interchange project.

A signed detour will be in place during this time for motorists traveling from Witchduck Road to
I-264 east:
  • Motorists traveling northbound on Witchduck Road will utilize Virginia Beach Boulevard then Independence Boulevard to access I-264 east; and
  • Motorists traveling southbound on Witchduck Road will utilize Greenwich Road then Newtown Road to access I-264 east.

Also during this time, single-lane closures will be in place on the inside lanes of I-264 in both directions to accommodate drilled shaft work in the interstate median. Click here to learn more about drilled shaft operations.

This work is subject to weather conditions and schedule changes.
