Congratulations UW Athlete Phoebe Bacon on her making her second USA Olympic Team

Add another name to the Badgers headed to the 2024 Paris Olympics as senior Phoebe Bacon qualified Friday at the USA Swimming and Diving Trials in Indianapolis. Bacon took second in the 200-meter backstroke finals to secure her spot at the Paris games.

Bacon finished in a time of 2:06.27, topped only by US champion, Regan Smith, who finished in 2:05.16. This is the latest accomplishment in a banner year for Bacon, who also claimed the 2024 NCAA National Championship in the 200 backstroke and earned Big Ten Swimmer of the Championship at this year's conference meet.

The Paris 2024 games will mark Bacon's second Olympics after finishing fifth in the 200-meter backstroke at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
