Heartland Farms is dedicated to sustainability and best management practices for the long term and in day-to-day operations. Heartland Farms is currently farming approximately 27,000 irrigated acres and have been experiencing substantial growth.


At Heartland Farms, they produce many different types of chipping potatoes as well as potatoes that go to supermarkets and head off to your home.


They currently ship chipping and fresh market potatoes from our Wisconsin operation from August through June of the following year. All of the vegetable crops are sold to Wisconsin food processors.

The US is paying a record amount of interest on its national debt

The rapid increase in interest rates over the past year could cause some collateral damage to the U.S. government's finances, because as interest rates rise, so will the federal government's borrowing costs on its $32.68 trillion in debt. Thanks to a combination of high inflation, rising interest rates and unrelenting growth in the national debt, interest payments are expected to triple from nearly $475 billion in fiscal year 2022 to a stunning $1.4 trillion in 2032.

Wisconsin DOJ secures funding for school safety programs

State programs to keep kids safe in Wisconsin schools will continue to be funded, according to Attorney General Josh Kaul. Kaul announced Wednesday that the Wisconsin Department of Justice Office of School Safety (OSS) reallocated $1,340,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds to extend several OSS programs through 2023-2024 school year. Wisconsin DOJ requested the legislature to permanently fund the OSS in the recent biennial budget, but the request went unfilled.

Rural manufacturers more vulnerable to disruption from EV transition

Manufacturers in rural areas are more vulnerable to disruption from the transition to electric vehicles, according to a WEDC official. Because auto suppliers in the state are already concentrated in industries that make components for both types of vehicles, the sector overall is “relatively less vulnerable” to disruption than downstream suppliers that are dependent on the internal combustion engine market, said Flannery Geoghegan, WEDC senior director of policy.

State crop production forecasts down as drought persists

Wisconsin crop forecasts for this year are down across the board, as farmers in parts of the state continue to grapple with drought conditions. The USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service reports state corn production is expected to be 515 million bushels, which would be 6 percent lower than last year’s total. Based on conditions at the start of the month, yields are predicted to average 166 bushels per acre, marking a decline of 14 bushels from last year.
