2023 Benefit Dinner Recap

Thanks to everyone who joined us at our Annual Benefit Dinner on Friday, April 21 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel. The evening featured great food, fellowship and an outstanding keynote presentation. Special thanks to everyone who worked so hard on the Dinner. Here are a few photos from this memorable evening:
Holy Family Radio wishes to thank all of our Business Supporters. They continue to provide financial and "in-kind" support to us on a regular basis. They are very important to our success. We encourage you to support them as well. Tell them that you appreciate all they do for WHYF. Please refer to the Business Supporters on our website when you need a product or service!

THANK YOU!
The Board of Directors of Holy Family Radio wishes to thank everyone who attended our Spring Benefit Dinner on Friday, April 21 and made it such a wonderful event. Our Speaker, Kevin Reilly, certainly inspired everyone with his story of family, faith and years of fortitude in overcoming a tragic event in his life that left him with only one arm. Everyone was amazed when he continued to speak while he untied and then retied his bright yellow tie with his one hand and mouth. He left us with a strong and inspiring message of true faith.

After the Dinner, so many people said that there was something different and special about the evening but they did not know how to describe it. Even the head of the wait staff came out and said that the wait staff wanted to thank us for being such a happy and pleasant group to serve. Yes, it was a very special night for Holy Family Radio and we want to thank everyone who came to the Dinner and for making God’s Heart and our hearts sing. God bless.
Update from Russ Fry
WHYF Community Relations Coordinator
Rfry@720whyf.com

I was going to start this article with the observation that April showers bring May flowers, but the flowers were already here in April due to the unseasonable weather. I am looking forward to May as we continue visiting Knights of Columbus Councils. We visited four Councils in April and promoted the station and our locally produced show, “Knight Talk.” We received a warm welcome at the four councils and plan more visits in May.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Fundraising Dinner on the 21st of April. As the saying goes, a great time was had by all. Kevin Reilly is a tremendous motivational speaker and gave a great presentation. He received a standing ovation!
We are holding our Spring Pledge Drive in May. Be sure to tune in and get your pledge in early. With your help, we will do well this year. We have a many financial needs and hope that you will support us.
Spiritual Advisor's Corner
Father Timothy Sahd

Dear WHYF Family,

It's been a few weeks since we've begun to cut our grass here at the parish. For the entire winter, and even until we cut it, it looked worn out, shabby and full of weeds. It just looked bad.

But then we cut it. Wow, what a difference! It looked like we spent thousands of dollars on lawn pesticides and nutrients (we certainly didn't!). We could play the Masters on our grass!

Our life can be like that, too. We can go through a lot of struggles, trials, and other pressures, and we can wonder how anything good can come out of it. But we turn the corner, and we can all of the sudden see all of the fruit of the struggle. The Resurrection is the fruit of the Cross. The struggle was necessary for the victory of the Cross. The grass needed to go through its regeneration period before it could be lush.

So please do not fear when life seems impossible to handle, or that we are overwhelmed. It will bear fruit in ways we couldn't even imagine. Our Savior lives by transforming evil into good, death into life, bread and wine into His Body and Blood, and our human lives into Divine Life! Thanks Be To God for that!

He is Truly Risen!

May – The Virgin Mary
“Therefore a certain Star has risen for us today: Our Lady, Saint Mary. Her name means Star of the sea; no doubt the Star of this sea which is the world. Therefore, we ought to lift up our eyes to this Star that has appeared on earth today in order that she may lead us, in order that she may enlighten us, in order that she may show us these steps so that we shall know them, in order that she may help us so that we may be able to ascend. And therefore it is a beautiful thing that Mary is placed in this stairway of which we are speaking, there where we must begin to climb. As the Evangelist says, Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, so immediately at the very moment of our conversion she appears to us and receives us into her care and enlightens us in her light and accompanies us along this laborious path.”
St. Aelred
After Mass on Sunday morning, a young boy suddenly announced to his mother, “Mom, I’ve decided to become a Priest when I grow up.”
“That’s okay with us, but what made you decide that?”
“Well,” said the little boy, “I have to go to church on Sunday anyway, and I figure it will be more fun to stand up and yell, than to sit down and listen.”

How do you identify the Catholics at a Star Wars convention?
When you say, “May the force be with you!”
The Catholics all respond, “And with your spirit!”

Two seminarians were debating on whether or not it was appropriate to smoke a cigar during the rosary.
Unable to agree on the matter, they decide to ask their superiors. The first seminarian goes to his spiritual director and gets his opinion. “Of course not, it’s disrespectful,” he says.
Later, the first seminarian sees the second one smoking a cigar with a rosary in his other hand. “Hey,” he says, “I thought we can’t smoke while praying!?”
The second seminarian says, “You asked if you can smoke while praying, I asked if I can pray while smoking.”
Prayer for Holy Family Radio
Gracious and loving Father,
your Son, the Incarnate Word,
gave us the joy and the duty
of proclaiming the Gospel
to all who will listen.
Bless Holy Family Radio in its apostolate
 of announcing the Good News.
Strengthen them for the work
of making the truths of our faith
more fully known and more faithfully lived.
 Through its programs,
may Your Saving
Word enter the minds and hearts of listeners
and produce an abundant harvest for Your Kingdom.
We pray this through Christ our Lord
 Amen.
