MEET OUR BOARD!
The Weequahic High School Alumni Association, now in our 25th year, would not be where we are without a strong and committed Board of Trustees. We have been fortunate in having so many alumni serve in this capacity.
Here are our current Board of Trustee members and a few comments from several about why they serve.
Dr. Baseemah Jumu’ah, Ed.D., Trustee: “ WHS remains an icon within the South Ward community. The WHSAA has worked continuously for decades to structure an organization that works to preserve a venue that offers support to students, families, staff and community. I believe the hard work that went into forming the WHSAA was relevant years ago and remains crucial today. Students and families encounter a myriad of obstacles that impact the educational process and may hinder many from graduating or attending college. As an organization we are here to lend support, enhance alumni membership and create leaders by way of scholarships while passing the torch; ‘future WHSAA members’—IP!”
Art Lutzke, Treasurer: "I've always felt we should do everything possible to help our current Weequahic students. We're all Weequahic Indians!"
Catherine Johnson, Co-Chair: "I wanted to serve on the WHSAA board because of the commitment to the mission of preserving our legacy of education. It is an honor to support our students through service while enjoying being a member of the alumni association."
Bob Singer, Trustee: “I am so grateful for the excellent education I received at WHS from the superb teachers I had (Litzky, Rouse, Lappe, Martino) that propelled me to success in College, Law School and my career. Serving on the Board of WHSAA enables me to give back in a small way.”

THE ALUMNI READING CORNER
We always try to share a new book, or publication, by one of our alumni. This time, we have something a little different:
'HOORAY FOR US'
For all who can still "walk and talk"…
"hooray for us"...
those that we can still hold and kiss…
"hooray for us"...
to inhale the freshness of your love's wash...
"hooray for us"...
to those children who harbor ill feelings and resentment
to their mother/father's new love...
don't realize they too, if lucky to reach old age and find themselves seeking a new and lasting love…
and finding that which they seek"…
then, and only then, when too late to ask for remorse as well as regret...but...
they will speak these words...
'HOORAY FOR US'
