Marketing and Your Childcare Business
Marketing is every action/plan you use to highlight your childcare services to increase enrollment in your program and or grow your business
Have you heard about the four Ps of marketing? Product, price, place, and promotion are the Four Ps of marketing. [1]
A key to growing your childcare business, expanding your services and increasing program’s enrollment is understanding your relationship to these four Ps.
Product
Excellent childcare. Do the childcare services you provide stand out in any way? Answering this question is the first step to marketing your business successfully.
Price
Do you know the market rate for childcare in your neighborhood? What do you charge for your services? Are your costs competitive? Do you know how to determine the costs of care in your program? It might be time to attend WHEDco’s workshop on this.
Place
Where can your product be found? This refers to defining the physical location of your program and exploring other options like an online presence.
Promotion
This refers to all of the activities like flyering, public relations, parents talking to other parents, advertising that go into letting others know about your work. “Marketers understand that consumers associate a product’s price and distribution with its quality, and they take this into account when devising the overall marketing strategy.”[2]
