Village of Whitefish Bay Official Weekly Newsletter

Message from the Village President, Kevin Buckley

Last week, the Village Board approved an $80,000 CDA grant for Drybar, a new merchant on Silver Spring, which is scheduled to open at the end of July.  This year, the CDA has granted $260,000 in TIF funds to four new merchants.
Since 2020, Silver Spring has reduced its vacancies from 26 to just 4, which is a testament to the excellent work of the BID, CDA, and Village staff in retaining and attracting new merchants to create a vibrant business district.

Have a great week! -kb

Staff was directed to draft a job description for a Community Development / Economic Development position based on recommendations to be provided by the Trustees. The draft job description and potential fiscal impacts of the position will be brought back to the Board for review.

Update From Village Hall:

Professional Municipal Clerks Week:

Last week was Professional Municipal Clerks Week! Professional Municipal Clerks provide essential support in the administration of elections, often preparing ballots, training election officials, and tabulating and certifying election results.

They also serve as the official record keepers of their respective municipalities and are tasked with ensuring transparency and communication.

Clerks strive to always be impartial in handling their official duties, guided by the overarching goal of providing equal treatment to all Wisconsinites.

Shout out to Village Clerk Jaimie Krueger and Deputy Clerk Erin Granstrom for their dedication to Whitefish Bay!

Menstrual Product Drive

Now Through May 18

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret, was a popular novel with young readers in the 1970s. It’s known for its relatable portrayal of a young girl confronting early adolescent anxieties. In celebration of the release of the movie version of the book, Marcus Theatres, Milwaukee Public Libraries (including Whitefish Bay), and United Way are holding a menstrual product drive. Twenty-three percent of U.S. students struggle to afford menstrual hygiene products – we know these products can be costly to families and students. You can help today by participating in our drive. Drop off new in original packaging pads, tampons, and panty liners in the donation bin located in our front lobby.
