Welcome June! Do you believe that half the year is gone! I recently had the opportunity to visit a beach recently and enjoy the white sand of the beach, clear water, and the rays of the sun. I thought, wouldn't it be nice to live like this every day. Even in seasonal weather, each month has it's own beauty, warmth, sunshine, and energy. Enjoy the new beginnings that each new month brings. Soak up some sun, go for a walk, go swimming, bicycle riding, do something that you love. May your June be filled with sunshine, hope, joy, and laughter. Here are some of the observances of June 2024:

  • Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month
  • Men's Health Month
  • National Aphasia Awareness Month
  • Father's Day (June 16th)
  • World Sickle Cell Day (June 19th)
  • International Day of Yoga (June 21st)
  • National HIV Testing Day (June 27th)

OMHF FRIENDS AND FAMILY OPEN HOUSE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS

Thank you to everyone who came out to our Family and Friends Open House May 25th, hosted by our own Gloria Ward Ravenell! BIG "THANK YOU" to our elected officials who were able to come, States Attorney Aisha Braveboy and Delegate Jamila Woods. We thank you for your support of the Open My Heart Foundation throughout the years! BIG "THANK YOU" to our newest members of the OMHF Family! More to come! We mixed, mingled, learned about the many things OMHF has accomplished, and that we have coming down the pike in the months ahead, as well as how to get involved. This cannot be done without community support, and we are so grateful for our growing membership and family! It is so beneficial to be in the room! Here are a few pictures.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE RECIPES

Tabouli

Herbs are arguably my favorite fresh ingredients, so it should come as no surprise that I love tabbouleh. Alternatively spelled tabouli or tabouleh, this Middle Eastern salad consists of finely chopped parsley, mint, tomatoes, and bulgur wheat.

Don’t let the bulgur’s presence fool you – traditional Lebanese tabbouleh isn’t so much a grain salad as it is an herb salad with grains. The parsley and mint are the real star ingredients, making the salad pungent, fragrant, and intensely refreshing.
