ASSOCIATION OF WISCONSIN SNOWMOBILE CLUBS DESIGNATES ST. GERMAIN AS A "SNOWMOBILE FRIENDLY TOWN"
This prestigious designation was first awarded to St. Germain in 2019 following completion of an application submitted by the Bo-Boen Snowmobile Club. Maintaining the award requires submittal of a renewal application every four years.
Roger Klein and Peggy Ausloos of the Bo-Boens presented the recently received 2023-2027 designation to the Town Board on July 27th. In doing so, both emphasized this is not an award to either the Bo-Boen Club or the Town Board. Rather, it a designation earned by the greater community. Following is a list of factors necessary for a town to be designated as snowmobile friendly:
- Submittal of a 23 page application
- Supporting Input from the Town Board and Chamber of Commerce
- Information about snowmobile trailer parking and access to public spaces
- Restrooms availability
- A town ordinance regarding local snowmobiling regulations
- Information regarding snowmobile lodging accommodations
- Information regarding local restaurants
- Snowmobile safety classes and safety programs
- Snowmobile trail maps availability
- Snowmobile trails regarded at "INCREDIBLE"
- Great signage on the trails
- Snowmobile Club volunteerism in community events (Radar Run, Independence Day celebration, Classic Sleds round-up, Golf Outing, Groomer Show Torch Run, etc.)
- Cooperation with County and Stare law enforcement agencies
- Welcome attitude to tourists and visitors
