THE POWER FROM FASTING AND PRAYER
PART 5
THE BENEFITS – LESSON 3

The third benefit I listed in part 3 of this series (click here to read) was that you will likely come to hear the Holy Spirit speaking to you more clearly than ever before.
Every born-again believer has the ability to hear from the Holy Spirit, and even more so when they have been baptized with the Holy Spirit (Spirit-filled). However, we often are dull of hearing with our own spiritual ears. The Holy Spirit speaks to our human spirit. If our own spiritual ears are not tuned in to listening to the Holy Spirit, we might not recognize when He is speaking to us.
In Revelation 2 and 3 Jesus’ instructions to the seven churches was, “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” This indicates not everyone in those churches had an ear inclined to hear what the Holy Spirit was saying, because many were not even believers.
Prayer and fasting opens the dull ears of your spirit. The Holy Spirit communicates with our spirit. It comes through thoughts and impulses to our natural minds. We may or may not recognize it being from the Holy Spirit, but it does come to your mind in thoughts or impulses. Just as Satan puts thoughts into our minds, so does the Holy Spirit.
As we fast and pray, our spiritual ears become more finely tuned to hear the Holy Spirit. Just as a musical instrument must be regularly fine-tuned, so do the ears of our human spirit need fine tuning to the voice of the Holy Spirit and the Word.
John 16:13 tells us that the Holy Spirit will speak to us those things that he hears from the Father. We must have our ears prepared to hear.
Let me clarify a point here. There are many born-again believers who have clear ears to the Holy Spirit. Their relationship is very intimate with the Lord. Many of them may never have fasted, but their relationship is strong, and their spiritual ears are well-tuned. However, if you feel like your spiritual ears have dulled, or you do not think you hear the Holy Spirit, then prayer and fasting is the best way to tune up the ears of your spirit to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.

A HEART OF OFFENSE

I was teaching children in Sunday School about how God wants us to have a heart that receives what he has to say. I found some stones in my yard and asked them to put them in the water to see how much water they would absorb. Of course, the stones did not absorb any water because stones cannot receive water into themselves. Stones are used to build walls and keep water out. It taught the children to always keep their hearts open to God and not be hard-hearted. It was a good example for them and for us also.
In Mark 4 Jesus was teaching about the four types of ground. One of the grounds in 4:16-17 was the stony ground. It says, “16And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness; 17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word’s sake, immediately they are offended.”
You will notice there was no root “in themselves.” This is because their heart, which represents the ground, was stony. Seed cannot penetrate a stony ground or a stony heart. Because there was no root when afflictions (trouble, anguish, pressure, persecution for the word’s sake) came the seed died. It could not take root. Then the person is offended. They often blame others for their condition.
A hard stony heart can only change through repentance. This will cause that heart to be softened, so once again seed can take root and grow into fruit. It is a dangerous thing to have a hard heart. Satan uses this hardness to bring offenses into your life to control you. Without ridding ourselves of offenses one becomes fruitless.
Have you found yourself in this condition? Are there offenses you have not dealt with? Then today is the day to get rid of those offenses and repent. If you do not, your life will never be all that God wants it to be.

PROPHETIC WORD
AS GIVEN TO HELEN SANDERS
For this is the hour, this is the hour, saith the Lord for I am opening doors that no man can shut and shutting doors that no man can open. For this is not the hour to be riding the fence. You will see that the doors I am shutting are for your own benefit and good saith the Lord. For I have a plan that is different from the one that you have been on. Oh, you have seen part of it, but I am calling you to me to go with my plan one hundred percent. Do not look to man to unveil what I am about to do for man will fail you. Do not look to your intellect to reason out what I am going to do, for Satan will bombard your mind with many thoughts of deception. Come to me my child and let me remove the hindrances so that you can blossom the way I have intended you to. It has been a dark season, and now I am bringing light into your life so that you will grow more than ever, yet you must allow me to prune those things away that will hold you back. Many have enjoyed this dark time for they have withdrawn into themselves instead of coming to me, the light of their soul, and bringing their very being into the light. Oh, that my children would surrender their will to mine. Oh, that my children would listen to my voice and follow me all the way. Many have gone so far, but I am calling you to total commitment. There will be many dark days ahead, but the light I am shining on your path will keep you safe and secure. There are many things that are coming soon to pass that will bring much fear, but I would say, let me take all fear and doubt away as you come into my presence and spend time to me. Just as a tree must shed its leaves and there is a dormant season, this is the time you have been in and are in. To birth the new leaves, the tree must get rid of the old. Old wineskins would burst when the new wine is put in, so you, also, must be willing to shed the old and let me dress you in the new. This is your hour to go forward and do what I have called you to do. There is no time to contemplate when I call you to myself. There is no time to reason it out. Walk in the spirit, and you will hear my voice. I will show you the way. Come unto me now and be made new. Come unto me now and feel the weight of my glory as it comes upon you. This is so necessary for you, my child. I love you and I am calling to you. Come to me now saith the Lord.

Just face it…You will usually feel OUT of PLACE on the WAY to where God has you GOING. However, if it helps to know you’re definitely NOT alone. Most everyone who’s ever done much of anything have felt that way at one time or the other. So look up and cheer up for you’re in great company. The GOOD news IS the BAD news was WRONG; For DETERMINED folks like YOU who WILL make it all the way through victoriously. Now you get back UP and continue on the JOURNEY; Even if YOU do FEEL a little OUT of place at times. After all, it could be that God is SHIFTING out of YOU what cannot STAY in YOU...And thus it WILL end up causing YOU...To get YOURSELF and everything around you MOVING, IN PLACE and READY to go.
