Deb Talan is perhaps best known for her work as a duo with Steve Tannen in The Weepies. However, her solo career both preceded and followed their work together. This song showcases her talents as a writer and melodicist. It’s a dark but hopeful tune that evokes, for me, old timey country themes with references to the Devil and the “midnight owl.” The simple, consistent one-two beat of the rhythm guitar and sweet dobro work certainly point in that direction as well. -Walter Henritze-
