Hello to all fellow WBQA members...welcome to "The Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer."

This is your VP of Lodges, George G. Gipp inviting you to take a peek at some of the happenings occurring throughout North America this summer of 2024. This is the first installment of Lodges In Motion - a regular spotlight we'll be shining on Lodges, Lodge Members and their families and friends. There are so many lasting memories being made by your fellow WBQA brothers in song.

The good news is you can do it too. Doing it YOUR way with those you love and care for. Why not join the good times? Why not start a tradition of your very own? Why not start enjoying the Music, Fellowship & Fun? It's all right there in your own hometown! Take a look at a few of our Lodges In Motion...

LODGE NEWS

Lodge #8 - Joplin Tristatesmen

Members of the Joplin Tristatesmen Chorus joined with members of the Greater Ozarks Barbershop Chorus (NW AR) to sing the national anthem at the Northwest Arkansas Naturals vs Tulsa Drillers baseball game, at Arvest Stadium in Springdale, AR.

Lodge #7 - Eastern Kentucky Harmonic Order - Brian Sparks reported on their annual Steak and Song event on June 8th. The event was hugely successful. and “a fabulous time of food, fellowship, and harmony was had by all". They had 86 guests, excellent food, and great singing from the Lodge and both of their Lodge quartets. Additionally, it was a great fundraiser!

EKHO debued some new songs as well as performing the anticipated traditional ones. The Lodge continues to work toward their annual show to be held in October!

Lodge #1 - The Friends In Harmony - Artie Dolt reports a fabulous Saturday afternoon performance in San Antonio, Texas, which occurred the third weekend in May. Lodge President Gary Stamper’s team planned and executed a most successful concert. "The Friends" performed the concert with their sister group, the Harmony Belles. The Friends recently performed a concert in Normandy to celebrate the 80th anniversary of D-Day.

Attend the Lodge Forum at the Convention to find out how they did this.

LODGE #12 - North Alabama Fraternity Of Barbershop Singers - Ken Hatton reported a fabulous Saturday afternoon gathering of brothers and wives at what is now becoming a "staple" of that which our Society represents - Music, Fellowship and Fun, hosted by Kay and Ken Hatton at their home. George Gipp was in attendance and presented the new Lodge with their Lodge Certificate to President Ralph Cobb.

The Cleveland Area Collaboration George Gipp w/Bobby Gray on July 2nd visited a joint meeting of Elyria/West and Cleveland/Lorain, Ohio chapters.

Coordinators George Szent-Kiraly, (west) & Bryan Noda, (east) gathered approximately 35 men for a Tuesday night “good old fashion” evening of Music, Fellowship & FUN! and Pizza provided- AS WE WALKED IN THE DOOR. Al Downing, Elyria Director, a highly competent motivator & musical leader and JAD District Champion quarteter, led the men thru a 6-song repertoire they will perform jointly in early fall. Additional tags, songs and stories were provided by Brian, Bobby & Gipp. Bobby & Gipp each addressed the group and laid out the reasons we at the WBQA exist…to preserve the barbershop style and help future generations of men to find or rediscover the joy of singing, hear his voice in a new kind of harmony and to know the rewards of a fraternal connection. BIG SUCCESS!…. Among those in attendance 14 men are currently WBQA members. Forming a Lodge is their next logical step.
