This month brings awareness to several important causes including Breast Cancer, Domestic Violence and Substance Abuse Prevention. Some lesser known causes include Cybersecurity Awareness and National Disability Employment Awareness.
What is your company doing to become more aware of these critical wellness and workplace issues?
Eileen's Lesson:
A few years ago, our car had a small window crack. We took it to Safelite and they were able to repair instead of replacing the entire windshield, which was awesome.
My husband picked up the car from being repaired. It was a pretty rainy and windy day. Unfortunately, on his way home, a tree branch fell onto the windshield and destroyed it beyond repair; thus, requiring it to be completely replaced.

Could the situation have been prevented? Sure, he could have left the repair place 5 minutes sooner or 5 minutes later. He could have driven home another way.  However, the sudden onset of a tree hitting your car at that exact moment is something that could have never been predicted and thus not foreseeable.

There is a Yiddish proverb that says, “Man plans, and God laughs”. Meaning, many times, we think we have it all figured out until we don’t.

At The HR Team, we help companies create policies to prevent most workplace situations. But just like sudden onset of rain and wind, predicting every possible scenario in the workplace simply isn’t practical.
