I AM ABEL FOUNDATION - AND LOYOLA'S SNMA -
A STRONG PARTNERSHIP PROMOTING HEALTH CARE EQUITY IN CHICAGO!

It has been my most sincere pleasure to partner with the amazing students of Loyola's SNMA for nearly 4 years. These mission driven medical students truly embody the mission of their medical college to "treat the human spirit." They are also fierce advocates for vulnerable populations and are devoted to decreasing healthcare disparities by increasing the number of medical professionals underrepresented in medicine. They have been such a blessing to our foundation's mentees and whenever I can share the good news about the work they are doing, its an honor to do so!
TOP DOCS AND HOT SHOTS 3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT FOR
5th - 8th GRADE BOYS!!

Check Out The Video Highlights Below

DISAPPEARANCE OF BLACK MEN FROM MEDICINE

If you missed our 1st annual Top Docs and Hot Shots 3 on 3 Tournament, you missed a treat! The alarm has been sounded and there is clear evidence that there are now fewer black men practicing medicine than there were in 1970! It is therefore the mission of I AM ABEL FOUNDATION and our partners to do all we can to attract our young boys to this amazing career.

Our Top Docs 3 on 3 Tournament was the first of many tournaments to come that combined the love of basketball with the love of medicine focused our attention on young black boys who just may become our next generation of Healthcare Heroes.

We would love to thank Loyola's SNMA and all of our medical student and physician volunteers for helping us to put together a day of fun and service. The kids honestly enjoyed the clinical experience just as much as they did basketball. Also a big thanks to Loyola Center for Health and Fitness as well as our Loyola Anatomy Professors. Finally, we'd like to thank our keynote speaker, Dr. Michael McGee, Director of Emergency Medicine at Methodist Hospital in Gary Indiana along with our event Co-Chairs, Loyola Stritch M-2s, Keven Stonewall and Esosa Aiwerioghene and our entire amazing committee.

SAVE THE DATE !!!! OUR 2ND ANNUAL TOP DOCS WILL BE JULY 26th 2020!
