Greetings CASC'ers,
Thank you for those who participated in our second annual CASC OUT event. We appreciate everyone who joined us in Haven Hall Posting Wall or took part in our #WhyICASC social media challenge. We will be contacting the Starbucks gift cards winner(s) soon so be on the look out. CASC hopes the event was not only a space to reflect on why/how you commit to social justice but also served to foster and educate the student community.
Additionally, Arab Heritage Month on campus began its celebration February 17 and will conclude in mid- April. The events this year will focus
on broadening the conversation about inclusion and exclusion, with the hopes of engaging in dialogue about the nuances of language, culture, and geography. For a full list of event times and descriptions visit MESA's website.

CASC-MSW Preferred Admissions Program
Students pursuing a Community Action and Social Change (CASC) minor may apply to the Office of Student Services in the School of Social Work for the Preferred Admission Program leading to a Master of Social Work (MSW). This means you are able to apply to the school as both as junior and senior. Additionally, students will mark a "CASC Preferred Admissions" box on their application that will be taken into account in the decision making process. London Course on Community Action
The focus of this course is on multicultural issues and community action in contemporary London. It's a good experience for students to learn how issues of race, ethnicity, gender and other identities relate to social justice in a different society than the USA. This course will take place May-June of 2018. Learn more.

Volunteer Opportunity with CASC
The CASC Student Board is looking to put the Community Action of CASC into practice by creating a monthly volunteering opportunity in the Ann Arbor area. CASC Senior Brinner
CASC Senior students are expected to attend our Senior Celebration Brinner (Breakfast For Dinner) where they will network with other graduating seniors, get information about graduation and graduation tickets, and celebrate a job well done! Brunch food will be served. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a CASC Senior Video where seniors will talk about their experiences in CASC and how they will bring it with them after graduation.

The Sexual Assualt Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC)
Survivor Empowerment and Ally Support (SEAS) Volunteer Program is now accepting submissions for the 13th annual art show, rEVOLUTON: Making Art for Change. The themes of this show are gender, sexism, sexual violence, empowerment, and healing. Deadline is March 12. Learn more.

Depression on College Campus Conference 2018
This conference will discuss new research findings, innovative design initiatives, model programs, and policies which demonstrate how redesigning the physical and social environments on a campus can reduce suicide risk and promote mental health.

Semester in Detroit (SID)
SID is accepting applications for their Fall 2018 cohort. The program
is an immersive experience which helps students foster intentional, sustainable relationships with people, organizations, and communities in Detroit through participating in community-based internships, taking Detroit-based classes, and living in the city. Deadline is March 5. Learn more and apply.
Applebaum Internship Program
Make a difference in Detroit this summer with the Applebaum Internship Program, which offers hands-on experience, funding, and professional development to students interning in non-profits and arts organizations in the city and the surrounding areas. Participants join a cohort of students who are eligible to receive $2,500 to $5,000 each in merit- and need-based funding for the summer. Learn more and apply.

Success Coach - Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)
Graduate and undergraduate students will provide support for the SYEP -
a summer jobs program employing youth aged 16-24 in Washtenaw County. Youth Success Coaches will be responsible for assisting with the implementation and coordination of the SYEP, including offering close support to both youth participants and employers. Learn more and apply.

Faculty Research Assistant Position: 10-20 Hours Per Week
The RA would conduct preparatory data collection, by conducting internet searches about migrant-run organizations and compiling information in an Excel file.
The RA would also conduct literature reviews, using EBSCO, Web of Science and other research databases, and then compile information in an Excel or Word document.

Davis Project for Peace Initiative 2018
Projects for Peace are summer-long projects designed and implemented by undergraduate students passionate about peace in their communities and around the globe. These projects, as defined by students, creatively address local or worldwide peace efforts providing sustainable solutions to contemporary society. Selected projects proposal will be funded up to $10,000 and implemented during summer of 2018. Learn more and apply.
Sustainability Project Grants
The Student Sustainability Initiative Board advises the Graham Sustainability Institute on distribution of grants (up to $2,500) which are awarded to student groups seeking assistance for projects promoting environmental sustainability on campus.
