TAY Mentors are our volunteers of the week and the 2024 WPS Volunteer Awards Small Group Award runner-up!

Started as a pilot program by Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), the Transition Aged Youth (TAY) Mentoring Program serves young adults ages 18 to 21 who have aged out of living in foster care. The program has grown from two to seven young adults in just eight short months. TAY's mission is to empower through mentoring and to guide young adults as they develop the life skills essential for self-sufficiency.

When youth age out of foster care, they often feel they have lost their support system and need to learn how to 'adult' on their own. Many young people are not prepared for the challenges of finding housing, dealing with food insecurity, and navigating healthcare. TAY mentors are there to guide young adults through the transition to adulthood. At its core, TAY mentors are continuously working on building relationships with their mentees and helping them learn how to advocate for themselves. These volunteers provide the care that makes a lasting impact. Thank you, TAY mentors, for all the support and guidance you provide these young adults!

CASA Volunteer Virtual Info Sessions - July 9 and 25, and August 13 and 22

All it takes is one person. Can you lend a voice? Volunteers are invited to join Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Brown County for a 30-minute virtual information session to learn how. CASA provides a voice for children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect and who are under the legal protection of the court system. Children with a CASA volunteer are more likely to report higher levels of hope, get help with other services, and spend less time living in foster care. Farmers' Market Booth Vendor Assistants - July 10 and 24, August 7 and 21, and September 4 and 18

Through the Women of Resource program, New Day's ladies learn entrepreneurial skills while using their talents to make and sell handcrafted items. Booth assistants help with set-up, clean-up, and sales during the Wednesday Farmer's Market. Shift options: two to five hours between 2:30-7:30 pm. Minimum age: 16.

CASA Volunteer Training - Beginning July 17

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Brown County is a volunteer-based nonprofit organization that provides a voice for children who have experienced abuse and/or neglect and who are under the legal protection of the court system. As a volunteer, you can make all the difference for a child who has experienced abuse and/or neglect in your community. Children in foster care who have a CASA volunteer are more likely to get help with other services, report higher levels of hope, and spend less time living in foster care. Volunteers are needed one week prior to this event to pass out flyers. Buddy at Respite Events for Friends with Disabilities - July 20 and August 17

These events focus on providing a high quality experience for participants. You Belong focuses on empowering, encouraging, and loving with compassionate care in engaging activities and projects.

During the event, volunteers serve as buddies to the participants. Buddies help the participant by simply being a friend for the day. They engage through games, activities, arts and crafts projects, and more! You Belong provides training and support for all volunteers throughout the event to make sure volunteers are comfortable in their work. Support includes registered nurses and staff that take care of all personal care and medical needs. Shifts: 9:30 am-3:30 pm (buddy or medical team, full day), 9:30 am-12:30 pm (buddy or medical team, morning), 12:30-3:30 pm (buddy or medical team, afternoon), and 10:30 am-12:30 pm (meal team). Packer Shareholders Meeting and Family Night Ticket Scanning - July 22 and August 3 

Hand of Hope is looking for volunteer groups to perform ticket scanning for two events. Groups will check in with the volunteer group supervisor, then proceed to their assigned gate. PMI staff or a volunteer group supervisor will be available to guide you. Groups typically stay together at a gate, but occasionally may be separated. A gate supervisor will provide training using a handheld ticket scanning device, and any issues will be handled by this supervisor. Some gates also have self-scanning pedestals. Volunteers are encouraged to thank the fans for coming and be engaged in the fun! You'll be standing the entire shift. Volunteers must wear tan or black pants, no shorts or capris. Any shirt is fine. Water, red polos/jackets, ponchos, and sunscreen are provided. Events and shifts: shareholders meeting, July 22, 12:00-3:30 or 4:00 pm; Family Night, August 3, 4:30-7:30 pm. Wolfinger Charity Golf Outing - July 27

Community Benefit Tree needs individuals to help with registration of golfers. Multi-tasking is beneficial. This individual will check in golfers and give them a wristband with the golfer's bidder number for the auctions and raffles. They also need individuals to man and sell tickets for the raffle tables. Must have an outgoing personality and be a go-getter with a friendly smile. Shifts: 7:30-9:00 am and three-hour shifts between 7:30 am-4:00 pm. Bereavement Callers

Volunteering is the heart of hospice! Do you have a few hours a month that you could share with someone? If a rewarding volunteer opportunity is what you are looking for, this is it. Aurora Hospice is looking for kind, compassionate, and social volunteer to call families who lost a loved one on Aurora hospice. Bereavement callers provide support by calling just to provide a listening ear. There is no hands-on care, and you have the ability to call patients from the comfort of your own home. Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Wisconsin is seeking retirees who want to positively impact the next generation of students. Mentors (Bigs) meet with their mentees (Littles) in two ways:

• Community-based Bigs meet a few times a month to expose their Little to community activities, go for walks in the park, or enjoy an ice cream cone together. 
• Site-based Bigs meet during a Little’s lunch and recess once a week at school to read, play games, or do a craft.

Volunteer Ombudsmen

Volunteer ombudsmen promote and advocate for the rights of individuals living in nursing homes. They make unannounced visits to designated facilities to interact with residents. They observe general conditions of the facility, talk with the residents about their rights, and work with residents to communicate concerns and complaints by providing support and empowerment. Volunteer ombudsmen assist residents by being their voice. Training and ongoing support is provided. If you'd like to improve the lives of the elderly, they would love to meet you!

Refugee Welcome Kits

Many refugees come to the United States with next to nothing. Help them rebuild their lives by putting together a Welcome Kit. These kits will provide them with the essentials they need to help them build again with hope and honor. Refugee Resettlement Assistance

Help refugee families in these important ways:

• Pick them up at the airport
• Provide a culturally appropriate welcome meal
• Distribute seasonally appropriate clothing for work, school, and every day
• Assist in transporting individuals to initial appointments (job interviews, doctor appointments, school appointments)
• Assist with completing public benefits applications such as Medicaid, SNAP, etc.
• Assist with enrollment in an English language program

Shifts: 8:00 am-12:00 pm. Volunteers will sign up for a 90-day contract to help a refugee family. Anything beyond that is up to the volunteer. Minimum age: 18.

Youth Mentorship Program Tutors

Volunteers will be tutoring and offering academic support to immigrant and refugee students aged 15-24. House Turnovers

EPH is looking for those who want to help with the homeless community in our area and make an impact. EPH houses 36 families at a time facing homelessness within Brown County. In order to do so, they rely on volunteers to help them get their homes move-in ready for the families. During the 'turnover' process, there will be dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning dishes, cleaning toys, etc. They also re-stock the home and get it prepared for the family to move in. Shifts: anytime between 7:00 am-7:00 pm. Are you one who enjoys plants, flowers, and weeding? Maybe you have an eye for what the border should look like around the house for curb appeal. EPH needs you! You can go to the home on your own schedule and work as you are able on tasks like trimming bushes, cutting trees, pulling weeds, thinning shrubs, planting new flowers, etc. They have approximately 17 homes that are in need of help. Early Education Classroom Grandparents

Encompass classroom grandparents are volunteers who make a difference in a child’s life while also earning a tax-free stipend. This opportunity is available at one of seven five-star-rated Encompass centers in Brown County. The Foster Grandparent Program connects two generations, enriching seniors' lives with a sense of purpose and providing children ages infant-4 with a consistent grandparent figure who supports them in social play and classroom activities. Volunteers must meet income requirements set by AmeriCorps Seniors, the program’s funding source. Shifts: flexible school-day hours, minimum five hours per week. Minimum age: 55.

Girls on the Run Fall Season

Girls on the Run is a youth development program that combines social/emotional learning with physical activities. Trained volunteer coaches are needed to lead a small group of participants using a research-based curriculum during the 10-week program (September-November). Practices are held from 3:30-5:00 pm twice a week, and two coaches are present at each practice. Training will be provided in July and August on various days and times. Minimum age: 16.

Gardening Volunteers

Join the horticulture team at Green Bay Botanical Garden! Don’t let a lack of gardening experience hold you back. Their horticulture staff will work alongside you, making sure you are comfortable with your task and answering any questions you may have. No tools are required, just bring gardening gloves. One-on-One ELL and Adult Literacy Tutors

Learn about new cultures as you work with a student to improve speaking, reading, and writing skills. Outreach Volunteers

Want to help fight fraud in the Medicare system and protect beneficiaries from being victims of scams? Join the Senior Medicare Patrol volunteer team. Their team educates Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers on how to prevent healthcare fraud and provide tips on how they can protect themselves. They do this through outreach. SMP volunteers staff booths at health fairs/senior expos/resource events or give small group presentations. You can make an important difference in your community by stepping forward and taking a stand against fraud. Various daytime shifts. Minimum age: 50.

Bread Run Driver

Lunch Program Dishwasher

Pantry Distribution

Unity Resale Shoppe West

Unity Resale Shoppe, a part of Unity Hospice, would like volunteers to help with various roles, including accepting, cleaning, and sorting donations; pricing merchandise and staging it on the sales floor; and working the cash register. Shifts: Mondays-Thursdays, 10:00 am-1:00 pm, 1:00-4:00 pm, and 4:00-6:00 pm; Fridays, 10:00 am-1:00 pm and 1:00-4:00 pm; and Saturdays, 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Unity Resale Shoppe East 

Unity, a non-profit provider of nonmedical home care, palliative care, hospice care, and grief support, is seeking fun and friendly volunteers to fulfill daily operations of a new, second resale shop that will open in summer 2024 in East De Pere. Volunteers are needed to start orientation in June or July. Duties include receiving, sorting, pricing, staging, and merchandising items, along with greeting customers and cashiering. Proceeds from the shop directly support Unity's compassionate care programs offered throughout Northeast Wisconsin. Child Care for Family Classes

You Belong's family classes for ages newborn to kindergarten focus on caring for families with littles. Their play-based learning helps children grow alongside their peers while parents get to connect with other parents and work on being the best caregiver and parent they can be. Their instructors create a supportive environment where families are encouraged to play together and participate in crafts, circle time with songs and stories, and play-based learning. You Belong is looking for volunteers to help play with their children ages 1-6 while parents get a time to connect and learn to be the best parent. Shifts: 9:15-11:15 am Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 5:45-7:45 pm Wednesdays (one hour extra at the end of all shifts for clean-up, if available/willing). Minimum age: 13.
