Reelection for Fourth Term

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee will not run for a fourth term, setting up a wide-open 2024 gubernatorial race that will have ripple effects all down the ballot.

Inslee, a Democrat elected in 2012, previously said he was unsure whether he’d seek an unprecedented fourth term as Washington governor.

He finally announced his intent to step aside, in a statement Monday morning.

“Serving the people as governor of Washington state has been my greatest honor. During a decade of dynamic change, we’ve made Washington a beacon for progress for the nation. I’m ready to pass the torch,” Inslee said in the emailed statement just before 9 a.m.

Inslee’s departure sets up a competitive race to succeed him after more than a decade of stifled ambitions for other politicians.

The Board-Executive Relationship:
A Partnership that Works
Thursday, May 4, 2023, 1:00 pm
No relationship is more important to the health of your nonprofit than the one between the board and its executive director. A strong and effective relationship sets the stage for organizational success. Yet, probably no other single relationship is as easily misconstrued or has such dire potential consequences. Many boards and executives cannot say with certainty whether they have a good relationship with each other, or even what that relationship should look like.

In this workshop, participants will learn:
  • the characteristics of an effective partnership
  • positive ways to strengthen the board-executive relationship
  • how to handle conflict between the board and executive
  • promote transparency and accountability.

Workshop Fee: $15 NAWA Members/$30 Not-Yet-Members

*Please note that this workshop is being held in-person at the Redmond Community Center, 6505 176th Avenue NE in Redmond.
