ATTENTION HOME CARE MEMBERS:

DOCUMENT! DOCUMENT! DOCUMENT!

PROTECT YOUR LICENSE!

During Negotiations, changes were agreed to by management and your Bargaining Committee to better facilitate communication between the Field RNs and Home Care Office Staff. Management will implement these changes effective April 1st, 2024.

HOW DOES THIS AFFECT YOU?

  • Visits count per day remains at an average of 6. However, all documentation is expected to be completed in the home and synched after each visit.
  • After April 1st, if nurses are not completing this task, Virtua may utilize their Performance Coaching & Counseling policy.

There may be times, when documentation may not be completed in the home for reasons such as, SOC, ROC, Discharges, Teaching Caregivers, calling physicians, and patient questions that took longer than expected. You should still synch after these visits.

DOCUMENT THAT YOU WILL PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION LATER IN THE DAY. SEND YOUR MANAGER AN EMAIL (NOT JUST A CLIQUE) SO WE HAVE DOCUMENTED PROOF WHEN ISSUES ARISE -THAT YOU HAVE INFORMED YOUR MANAGER!

  • Inform your manager you will complete the documentation when you get the additional information or have the time to finish it at the end of the day.
  • Inform your manager that the long visit may cause overtime.
  • Chart that the caregiver or patient education needs additional instructions.
  • You may need to schedule an additional visit. Email your manager the change(s) in the plan of care and the reasons.

WHEN YOUR MANAGER CALLS INTO QUESTION WHY THIS WAS NOT COMPLETED, YOU HAVE TAKEN THE FIRST STEP(S) TO NOTIFY THE MANAGEMENT TEAM EVERY TIME!

  • When the manager provides education this is coaching.
  • Before explaining or talking, ask: "Can this conversation result in a discipline?"
  • Keep in mind that Virtua’s “coaching” is the first step in the Performance Coaching & Counseling Policy. If the behavior or action is not corrected, management may utilize discipline.
