Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People

Summary of Recent Changes
Updates as of July 27, 2021

  • Updated information for fully vaccinated people given new evidence on the B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant currently circulating in the United States.
  • Added a recommendation for fully vaccinated people to wear a mask in public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high transmission.
  • Added information that fully vaccinated people might choose to wear a mask regardless of the level of transmission, particularly if they are immunocompromised or at increased risk for severe disease from COVID-19, or if they have someone in their household who is immunocompromised, at increased risk of severe disease or not fully vaccinated.
  • Added a recommendation for fully vaccinated people who have a known exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 to be tested 3-5 days after exposure, and to wear a mask in public indoor settings for 14 days or until they receive a negative test result.
  • CDC recommends universal indoor masking for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors to schools, regardless of vaccination status.
There are new vaccine requirements for children returning to school/daycare.

A series of vaccines are required and this year, the requirements have changed. Beginning in less than a month, all students in Virginia will need vaccines to protect against Meningitis, HPV and Hepatitis A. That’s on top of previously required immunizations. Without them, your child may not be able to start school on time or go to daycare.

“Mind Your Meds” Safe Opioid Medication Use and Disposal
Mind Your Meds…

It is so important to keep track of your medications.
You can be in danger if your medications are expired or duplicated.
Any time is a good time to “clean out” your medicine cabinet.

Take these steps to “Mind Your Meds…”

1.  Gather your medications, over-the-counter supplements, vitamins, and eye drops.
2.  Look over the prescription dates or expiration dates.
3.  Separate your expired (old) medications from your current/active medications.
4.  Use the list (on the back of this sheet) to write down your current medications.
5.  Use this current list for any of your doctor’s appointments.
6.  Call your local pharmacist with any questions.
7.  Put your old medications in separate bag for disposal.

You can make a difference!
Thank you!
