RPS among several school districts to iron out plans for virtual learning next year

RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Richmond Public Schools is among several school districts working to put together plans for virtual learning next year. Richmond is making some significant changes, as they plan to have a scaled-back version of its virtual academy. In Caroline County, the district's virtual learning survey closes today.

Va. school district expands electric school bus fleet amid gas price increases

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( WDVM) - Fairfax County Public Schools are going green in hopes of saving some green. Parents and officials gathered on Monday to celebrate the addition of new electric school buses to their fleet. This brings the county one step closer to its goal of obtaining all-electric school buses by 2035.

Albemarle County planning to spend millions to build new schools; more may be needed

ALBEMARLE Co., Va. (WVIR) - Albemarle County Public Schools says overcrowding is an issue, and solving it will require a big financial commitment from the county. ACPS says that issue will be resolved once two new elementary schools and one additional high school 'center' are built.

Harvie ES principal earns REB Distinguished Leadership Award - The Henrico Citizen

Tonya Holmes, principal of Henrico County's Harvie Elementary School, has earned the 2021-22 REB Award for Distinguished Educational Leadership. The Community Foundation and the REB Foundation present the award to four principals annually - one each from the school divisions of Henrico, Chesterfield and Hanover counties and one from the city of Richmond.

Chesapeake School Board approves preliminary budget with teacher raises

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) - Chesapeake school officials have approved a division budget for the upcoming school year that would give pay raises to all staff. The superintendent's proposed budget will now move forward to Chesapeake City Council, which will ultimately decide on the amount of school funding the division gets in the next fiscal year.

With vote looming, Williamsburg-JCC School Board makes budget pitch to city, county officials

The current proposed budget anticipates a 7% salary increase for division staff and faculty - an estimated $7 million cost. The increase, however, is contingent on whether the governor's budget passes with its proposed 5% increase, with the board paying the additional 2%.

Lynchburg School Board approves major salary boost for employees

The message coming from school leaders Tuesday night is that Lynchburg City School staff deserves more pay. Top-tier teachers are a top priority in the Lynchburg City School budget, heading into the next school year. "We have got to step up, to retain and obtain talent to solve some of the issues that we are facing," said Randy Trost, District 1 school board member.
