Richmond School Board unanimously approves smaller annual budget that maintains chief operating, wellness officer positions

County releases proposed budget, tax rates

Fauquier County Administrator Paul McCulla released a draft $409 million budget for fiscal year 2023 on Friday. The proposal exceeds the current budget by $69 million, largely due to the cost of expanding and renovating Taylor Middle School in Warrenton and Cedar Lee Middle School in Bealeton. Other significant drivers of the increase are staffing and pay increases for fire, rescue and law enforcement personnel and an expected jump in employee healthcare costs.

County School Board Approves Calendar, Talks Budget

The Rockingham County School Board approved one of two versions of the 2022-23 calendar at a meeting Monday. The calendar includes a start date of Wednesday, Aug. 24, and a last day of school of Thursday, June 8, 2023. The calendar also includes 11 teacher work days or in-service days or days for parent teacher conferences.

WJCC Updates Masks Policy for Buses and Vans | Williamsburg Yorktown Daily

WILLIAMSBURG - Williamsburg-James City County (WJCC) Public Schools announced over the weekend that it has made mask-wearing optional for students while on both buses and vans operated by the school division. The new practice started on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, and coincides with York County Schools' decision to make masks optional on the buses and vans operated by its school division.

Chesterfield County Public Schools extends mask optional policy, allowing employees, visitors to choose

Chesterfield County Public Schools modified its mask mandate once again, giving staff and visitors the option to wear a mask in school buildings and for students on school buses. In a statement to families and staff on Monday, the district announced the changes in collaboration with the county's department of risk management.
