VP Harris promotes electric school buses in Virginia, announces $500 million fund

U. S. Vice President Kamala Harris toured electric school buses at Meridian High School in Falls Church, Virginia as she promoted the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law investments in clean school buses. "We are announcing $500 million in clean bus funding to go to schools across the country," Harris said.

CTE students in Campbell County celebrate securing jobs before graduating

The Career and Technical Education program at Campbell County Technical Center honored 20 students Friday morning for the completion of trade-based programs. Students signed letters for employment at the event, weeks before high school graduation. Jon Hardie, principal at CCTC, said faculty and staff tell students often that "success looks differently for everybody."

Dress code changes considered

Pittsylvania County School Board member Kelly Merricks is looking to revise the school's dress code to make it more gender neutral. At the May 10 School Board meeting, Merricks said she submitted a new dress code to Chairman Calvin Doss as well as Pittsylvania County schools superintendent Dr. Mark Jones.

School division opts for less expensive platform for remote learners

Fauquier County School Division officials shared earlier this month the details of a plan to end the school division's "Virtual Academy " and use a state-funded platform instead beginning this fall, saving the school division at least $650,000 this year.
