Proposed Montgomery County school budget includes 5% raise

Montgomery County Public Schools is proposing a budget of $138.5 million for the fiscal year that starts July 1, an amount that includes funding for a 5% raise for all employees. The proposed plan was presented last week during a county School Board meeting.

Prince William School Board, supervisors talk security, budget surplus at joint meeting

Prince William's Board of County Supervisors seemed eager to fund security increases at county high schools and middle schools in a joint meeting with the School Board this week, telling the school division that the county had over $41 million in surplus fiscal 2022 tax revenue coming to schools.

SPS ready to launch updated website

The Suffolk Public Schools website redesign is nearly complete and officials expect the new look will launch Monday, Jan. 30. The school's communications and community engagement team has been working with school website platform Finalsite to provide substantial changes to the site. Danville Public Schools getting two more school resource officers

Two additional school resource officers (SRO) are headed to Danville Public Schools thanks to a grant from the Danville Police Department. At this time, there are already two SROs at George Washington High School and another two at Bonner Middle and Westwood Middle.
