Parents' bid to block Youngkin school mask policy dismissed, but temporary hold granted to school districts still stands

Rise in Lynchburg-area students receiving therapy in schools

The number of students receiving school-based therapy in the Lynchburg area has increased more than 20 percent so far this school year, according to Horizon Behavioral Health. Horizon Behavioral Health is now offering therapy in Lynchburg City Schools, as a part of a new contract with the district.

Bill to end school mask mandates advances in Virginia Senate

FALLS CHURCH, Va. (AP) - A bipartisan majority in the Virginia Senate has voted to advance legislation that would ban public school systems from imposing mask requirements on students. Henrico Education Foundation funds 12 'innovative' Henrico Schools projects - The Henrico Citizen

The Henrico Education Foundation has announced grants totaling $79,282 to fund 12 innovative projects proposed by Henrico County Public Schools educators. The programs are expected to benefit more than 9,000 HCPS students. Twice each year, HEF invites teachers and other educators to submit their ideas for groundbreaking projects that enhance the school division's mission.

Henrico parents torn over school mask mandate

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) - Monday was the first day of class since Henrico County Public Schools (HCPS) announced its universal mask mandate would remain in place. Fairfax County schools approve proposal banning firearms from school grounds

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (WDVM) - The Fairfax County School Board approved a proposal on Tuesday morning prohibiting firearms on all school division-owned or leased property. The board will also be reviewing curriculum, safety protocols and professional development related to gun violence and suicide prevention, a release said.

Virginia Education Broadband Grant

Valued up to $30,000- Applications must be received by February 18, 2022

In honor of VSBA’s 115th Anniversary, a thank you for your work as school board members, and in service to Virginia’s children: Kajeet partnered with VSBA to announce the first-ever Virginia Education Broadband Grant program. This funding opportunity will help school board members continue the important work being done to ensure all students have digital learning access at school and at home.


In total, Kajeet will award over $250,000 in broadband services to Virginia school

boards to solve the digital divide and ensure that all students have access to learn, anytime, anywhere.


Kajeet will award 9 winners (one per VSBA region). Award winners will be announced at VSBA Regional meetings this Spring. To learn more information and to submit your application visit the link below.
