Klein Creek Stream Stabilization Project - Section III

Construction for the Klein Creek Stream Stabilization Project - Section III is set to begin this month. This project is an undertaking of the Village, in cooperation with the Carol Stream Park District, and is partially funded by state and county grants.

Project highlights include increased capacity for storing flood water, a more resilient streambank through the use of native plants, various improvements to the Kids World play area at Armstrong Park, and trail improvements throughout Armstrong Park.

Section III construction is expected to be completed in July. Construction will cause several paths in Armstrong Park to be closed, as well as the parking lot off of Idaho Street (Kids World). For more information about this project, please visit the project webpage.

Prescribed Burning

The Village actively maintains and monitors its naturalized landscapes. Seasonal maintenance includes prescribed burns, which is a method used to expose soil to the sun's warmth, triggering growth and seed germination. The use of

prescribed burns is an effective tool for weed control, which reduces the use of herbicides.

To learn more about the Village's use of prescribed burns and burn locations planned for this spring, visit the Village's website.
