A heartfelt congratulations to our student athletes for their achievements at the state competitions this past week!
Hannah Goodwin is to be congratulated for her 3rd place wins in both the 300M and the 55M events at the Indoor Track State Championship. Way to go, Hannah! To God be the Glory!
The Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated the 2023 State Champions and conference rivals Northside Christian 54-55 in the semi-finals last Tuesday in a standing room only nail biter at home.
On Saturday, the journey continued at Ravenscroft as United Faith was returning to the finals for the second year in a row with unfinished business. This would be the third meeting of the year for United Faith Falcons and your VCCS Kings. The game would come down to a three-point basket from Justin Whitfield (game MVP) that would tie the game 44-44 with 46 seconds remaining. The kings would take the lead and go on to win and secure the 2024 NCISAA State Champion title 48-44. Way to go KINGS! To God be the Glory!
A special shout out to the VCCS Sixth MAN, all of our fans and supporters. We are forever grateful for your support of our athletes. Thank you for packing the VCCS Gym, bringing back memories of the old days. Thank you for following us to Raleigh and bringing the NOISE. We absolutely appreciate you. Your presence fueled the VICTORY!
Lastly, Coach Mel, we celebrate you and the entire coaching staff. Your commitment to these young men both on and off the court will impact their lives long after this victory. Thank you for pulling out of them what God always said was there. God bless each of you.
