“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Salt is a preservative; without it, food would "go to the bad." Light dispels darkness. When light comes, darkness is no more. Much like salt, the body of Christ is the preservative of humanity, as we live and spread the TRUTH of the WORD, men and women are drawn to God and compelled to change. Like light, we are the 'HOPE' that is able to remove the despair that many find themselves in.

Recent events have caused confusion to spring up and cloud the truth of the Word of God. There is a difference. This month's character trait is Discipline: a practice, a code of behavior, a standard. Our behavior should demonostrate a different way of living - a distinction between us and the world.

Let's submit to the Word of God and His grace to enable us to live lives of discipline and self-control that glorify God by radiating light and sprinkling salt wherever we go.
