Start Your Resume with a "Recent Career Highlights" section
This suggestion might not be for everyone, but a resume that hits the reader with a punch will mostly result in an interview. We're talking about the Recent Career Highlights (or Achievements) section. Note the word "Recent." Here's why, a Career Achievement section might make the reader wonder, "Are these achievements from within the most recent five years or twenty years ago." Thus, we suggest that you add the word "Recent."
Note in our resume example the areas of expertise: Change Agent, Quality and Customer Champion, and Team Builder and Coach. Our candidate read the job description very carefully and deduced that these areas of expertise were essential to the job. This illustrates the importance of tailoring one's resume to the job. If the job description had called for someone who is an Efficiency Producer, the first career achievement would fit the bill.
Not a Manufacturing Operations Executive? No worries, anyone can have a Recent Career Achievements section. Just think about what you've achieved in the most recent five to seven years and list the greatest ones under your Summary Statement. You'll definitely grab the reader's attention and make them read the rest of your resume.
