Versatile Nestin Antibodies

For Accurate Neural Stem Cell Research

Nestin as a biomarker:

Nestin is an important biomarker in neurological research because of its strong association with neural stem cells and progenitors. In neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and Huntington's, nestin helps to explore the role of neural progenitors and the potential for regenerative therapies. Nestin levels increase after brain injury, making it useful for studying brain repair mechanisms. Additionally, nestin is highly expressed in gliomas and other brain tumors, which aids in the understanding of tumor biology and the targeting of cancer stem cells for treatment. Researchers use nestin antibodies to identify and isolate nestin cells in studies of brain development and adult neurogenesis, particularly in areas such as the hippocampus and subventricular zone.

Biosensis' Versatile Nestin Antibodies

Biosensis offers a collection of anti-nestin antibodies from various hosts, including a mouse monoclonal, a rabbit-hosted polyclonal, and an excellent chicken-hosted anti-nestin antibody. All antibodies are specific for nestin protein expressed in neuronal stem cells. These antibodies are versatile and applicable to ICC, WB, and Flow Cytometry. They accurately identify the 240 kDa nestin protein in developing rat brain homogenate, with a secondary 90 kDa band representing a breakdown product. Despite a 62% sequence identity between mouse and human nestin, these antibodies effectively stain both species, ensuring reliable results across different models.
