2024 Velocity Summer Internship Program |
And just like that, another year of the Velocity Summer Internship Program has successfully concluded!
In its third year, a total of 73 students and 29 businesses participated in this program. Students explored career opportunities in various fields including childcare, healthcare, marketing, engineering, administrative work, and much more!
Be on the lookout for next year's application which will open in the Spring.

Ribbon Cutting for Alta Vista Botanical Gardens! |
Their new Stacked Stone Zen Garden symbolizes balance, creativity, focus, and tranquility. The Alta Vista Botanical Gardens are designated ecological landscapes containing collections of plants native to areas around the globe. They are designed to both educate and inspire visitors.

This program is designed for early to mid-career business professionals from a variety of industries looking to develop professionally and personally. Participants must commit to attending all four sessions of the SCP program. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.

Lunch & Learn: Winning at Medicare - August 27 |
Karen Leyva will be presenting an educational Medicare Event at the Vista Chamber and will be talking about the Basics of Medicare, Enrollment periods, and the new drug changes coming to us beginning next year.
She will also explain how you may be able to change your Medicare plans right now, using a Special Election Period!

Kids for Country by Vista Palomar Riders |
Vista Palomar Riders is pleased to welcome Buck Ford and Malachi McNeill to the big stage on October 5, 2024 at Vista Palomar Riders, 973 Little Gopher Canyon Road in Vista, CA. Check-in begins at 5PM and all tickets must be pre-purchased here. No tickets will be sold on-site at the event.
VIP Tables, individual VIP tickets, and General Admission options are available for guests 21+. Our event will feature a silent auction, a live auction, a live calcutta for mechanical bull riders, delicious food and libations for all guests of course one of the biggest up-and-coming artists in country music, Buck Ford.
The goals of the event are:
- To encourage and grow our country & western culture & values for young people in the community.
- To grow Vista Palomar Riders (VPR) as a high-value, accessible horsemanship and education asset for everyone in the community.
- To raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Vista to help support their community programs.
- To host two horse-related educational events per year for everyone in the community, especially kids, celebrating horsemanship and cowboy culture.

Applications Open August 29 for County Rental Assistance Units in Three Affordable Housing Developments | The County’s Housing and Community Development Services (HCDS) is opening a waitlist for renters who are interested in living in three new housing developments with dedicated units supporting seniors, low-income families and disabled adults experiencing homelessness. Starting Thursday, August 29 at 7:30 a.m., applications will become available and can be submitted online at www.sdhcd.org. Applications also will be accepted in person at the HCDS office, which will open at 7:30 a.m. and have copies available, or by calling 858-694-4801. See more information here. | |
