VALLEJO, CA — On July 1, 2022 at approximately 8:20pm during an unrelated traffic stop, Vallejo Police Officers arrested 19-year-old suspect Damian Jones Jr. of Vallejo in connection to the March 18, 2022 fatal shooting of 49-year-old Vallejo resident LaPrell Briggs.
Vallejo Police Department (VPD) Detectives previously identified Jones, Jr. as the suspect in this case and obtained a warrant for his arrest. During the traffic stop, Jones Jr. was arrested without incident and booked into the Solano County Jail for murder and weapons violations.
The Department would like to thank our VPD Detective Division, Officers, Dispatchers and staff for their contributions to this investigation and the arrest of the suspect in this case. Our deepest sympathies are with Mr. Briggs' family as we pursue justice in this case.
