Vallejo, CA- At approximately 1:14pm on May 26th, Vallejo fire units swiftly responded to a first-alarm residential structure fire in the vicinity of Carolina and Tuolumne streets. Initial reports indicated smoke and flames emanating from a mobile home located across from the social services office. As units were en route, additional information was reported, suggesting a possible individual had entered the mobile property, prompting a second alarm to be issued for additional manpower.
Upon arrival, first responders encountered a fully engulfed RV mobile home parked in the alley, posing an imminent threat to adjacent structures. In a coordinated effort, firefighters initiated an aggressive attack on the blaze while simultaneously conducting a rapid primary search of the interior.
One adult male was discovered inside the property and rescued by firefighters. Despite receiving immediate medical attention and transportation by Medic Ambulance to a local area hospital, the victim succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced deceased. The Vallejo Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this loss.
The efforts of firefighting teams led to the successful containment of the fire within 20 minutes of the initial unit's arrival on the scene. Minimal damage was sustained by the adjacent structure, limited to several cracked windows.
No injuries to firefighters were reported during the incident.
A deceased dog was also recovered from the structure.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation. Regrettably, it appears the fire victim had re-entered the property in an attempt to search for his dog and was overcome by fire conditions.
