Marlins Punch Ticket to 2024 NCAA World Series with a 6-1 Win over Muskingum
The Virginia Wesleyan Marlins softball team, ranked 5th nationally, will take the field May 30, 2:30PM EDT to face 4th ranked Wis.-Oshkosh. The tournament will be held Thursday through Saturday, May 30 - June 2, at East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas.

The Passing of Trustee Emeritus William “Bill” J. Fanney |
The Virginia Wesleyan community is saddened to share the passing of longtime VWU Trustee Emeritus William “Bill” J. Fanney at the age of 100. Involved with Virginia Wesleyan since its founding, Mr. Fanney served on the President’s Advisory Council and later as a member of the Board of Trustees. In 1989, Bill’s son, Dr. Thomas R. Fanney '76, became the first VWU alumnus to return as a member of the full-time faculty. Following his son’s passing in 2005, Bill established the Thomas R. Fanney Distinguished Professorship in Mathematics, an endowed professorship at Virginia Wesleyan. Thanks to Mr. Fanney’s foresight and generosity, Tom’s legacy as a dedicated alumnus and outstanding professor will continue to live on. |

Alumni Spotlight: Caitlin Myers, Class of 2023
Caitlin’s boss, Dr. Michael Weatherly '02, is a Virginia Wesleyan Alum, and her sister is a junior on the softball team. Originally from Charles Town, WV, Caitlin Myers currently works as a Business Development Specialist at Sports Innovation X. Plus, Caitlin’s sister, Mackenzie Myers, is a junior on the softball team.
A Sports and Recreation major, Caitlin started out as an Assistant for Sport Innovation X's parent company, Halo Holdings, and was able to float throughout different business units to understand the various operations of the organization.
