Tune in to the State of the University Address

August 23, 2024

12:00 p.m.

Each August, prior to the start of the fall semester, President Scott D. Miller delivers his State of the University Address to the campus community. The address includes highlights, initiatives, and significant accomplishments from the past year, as well as recognition of faculty and staff, points of pride, recent University news and information, current campus projects, and direction for the future of the University.

The address will be livestreamed on the VWU Digital Broadcasting Network beginning at 12:00 p.m.

Coming Soon: Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art at VWU

On August 19, the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (Virginia MOCA) and Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) broke ground for a new museum to be built on VWU's campus. The collaboration between Virginia MOCA and VWU unites the two institutions with shared commitments to the arts, arts education and accessibility and community engagement.

Alumni to Lead VWU Esports

VWU is proud to announce the appointment of two of its distinguished alumni to lead its burgeoning Esports program. Brandon Kwon ‘23 has been named the new Director of Esports, while Hailey Schumacher ’22 has been appointed as the Assistant Director. Both Kwon and Schumacher have been integral to the program's growth since its inception, making their elevation to leadership roles a natural progression in VWU's commitment to excellence in this rapidly expanding field.

Jennifer Rouse '08 to Serve as Founders Day Keynote Speaker

VWU Founders Day convocation and presentation of the annual Alumni Awards will be held on Thursday, September 5 at 12 p.m. in the Joan and Macon Brock Theatre of the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center. Jennifer Rouse ‘08, a member of the Virginia Beach City Council and an assistant professor of Sociology and department chair for Social Sciences and Education at Tidewater Community College, will serve as the keynote speaker. 2024 Alumni Award recipients will be recognized during the event.

Marlins Move In! While they unpack, we give back.

Sunday, August 25, is move-in day for our newest Marlins! To celebrate Move In Day 2024, we aim to reach an aspiring goal of 240 gifts in just 20 hours and 24 minutes. Join us in showing all of our current and future students how strong the Marlin Spirit is. While they unpack, we invite you to give back to The Excellence Fund or another program that moves you on August 25, 2024.
