LET'S CAN HUNGER
For the month of November, we are collecting canned goods for our United Methodist Mission on Houston Avenue. Ray Rover has a vital and vibrant ministry in that community in what used to be the Southside UMC. After the church closed, Ray and others developed outreach ministries using that facility. They have a weekly breakfast with a time of worship. They do basketball ministry and will host a Christian Rap concert this month.

A few weeks ago, we restocked the men’s clothing closet at the mission. They were so excited by your generosity. This month, we are filling up their very empty pantry. When we go to the store this month, let’s pick up some extra items. May our gratitude spill over into an offering that benefits our neighbors. As blessed as we are, the collection baskets should be overflowing every week. When we put our minds to it, we can do amazing things. Let’s pull together and make this a big deal. I plan to pick up a dozen cans each week this month. Who will match me? We can’t solve hunger around the world, but we can make a difference in the lives of those in South Macon. Let’s Can Hunger!
THANK YOU NOTES FROM SERVICE SUNDAY
We received some nice notes from residents at Magnolia Manor after the day of service. The notes are on the bulletin board on 2W for those who participated in this service opportunity.

Peace,
AN OPPORTUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO OUR
DISTRICT AND CONFERENCE
Each quadrennium, the United Methodist Church seeks new leaders for open positions on conference boards and committees to serve for four years. The current quadrennium draws to a close in December 2024, and a new one launches on January 1, 2025. However, service on conference boards and committees for the new quadrennium begins at the conclusion of the 2024 SGA Annual Conference session. Our districts are also seeking nominees to fill vacancies to prepare for spring district conferences.

To prepare for this transition, the South Georgia Conference Committee on Nominations will present a report for approval to the 2024 session of the Annual Conference in June. Numerous Vineville folks have and will continue to serve our connection in this way. This is important work and we all have a part to play.

First, pray that God will speak to those who we need in district and conference leadership. Next, please consider completing the self-nomination form linked below. This comprehensive form allows you to indicate your spiritual gifts, share your professional experiences, and identify which board(s) or committee(s) you feel best aligns with your gifts and talents. Please note that self-nominations are kept on file in our database for up to four years. Because our districts must begin their work soon, the deadline for this form is November 30, 2023.

This is another way in which we can live into our membership vows of prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Click the link below to complete the nomination form:
SURVIVING THE HOLIDAYS THIS SUNDAY
Our Stephen Ministry team will be hosting a workshop this Sunday, November 12, for those who are navigating the holiday season after the loss of a loved one. Thanksgiving and Christmas always bring up so many memories, traditions, and celebrations which will feel different this year because someone special in your life will not be at the table or around the tree. Surviving the Holidays will help you prepare, plan, cope, and pray as you approach the holiday season in different ways. Whether you lost someone this year, or if this season is always difficult without your loved one, you are invited and encouraged to be present for this time of connection and healing. To attend, contact Teresa Edwards by email (tedwards@vineville.org) or call the church office. Feel free to invite friends from the community to join us for this time of care and support.
