And let’s keep praying! Join me in praying for the leaders and students until Sunday the 9th . Pray for safety in travel, pray for rich times of worship, pray for them to grow in their faith and their strength as a group. Pray that God will use their music and witness to share the love of grace and God with those who attend.

Vacation Bible School in some people’s mind is just a way to occupy children for a few hours. Those people don’t know what they are talking about! Vacation Bible School is a big deal. VBS is different from sports camps, theater camp and even scout camp. All of those things are valuable, even important, but VBS is for many a major component in the foundation of their faith.

The craft projects, games, story time and music help to teach God’s love and God’s mercy in a way that reaches deep in the heart of our children. I can’t tell you how many people through the years have told me their faith journey began in VBS. In moments of doubt, in moments of crisis, they remembered what they had learned as children. They remembered those who invested in them. They came back to the place where the seeds of faith were planted.

Let me encourage, beseech, beg you – if you can get a child here next week – do! Don’t let lesser things get in the way of this. If you want to do something important next week, come join the team. Reese can always use more help. All of us have a part to play. All of us can pray. Pray for the parents and grandparents trying to get kids here. Pray for our teachers and volunteers. Pray for a great week. Pray!

It is not too late to join the mission team. While the spaces on the team are full, you and I can still be part of this important work. Our team is giving of their time, effort and money to represent Christ this summer. We can make this trip less expensive for them by tagging along. I want to challenge all of us to make a gift.
