BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS
Remind your students to bring their backpacks and book bags to worship this Sunday at @11:00. As part of morning worship, we will have a time of prayer for students and teachers alike. This annual tradition of blessing the backpacks represents a commitment of the church to pray for our students and educators throughout the year. Members of our prayer team will be part of this time of prayer and blessing. Reese has made a bag tag for the students to carry with them as a reminder that they are being prayed for by their Vineville family.
POPSICLE PRAYER PARTNERS
For the last several years, we have started the new school year matching children and youth with prayer partners. This year we will have Popsicle Prayer Partners. On Sunday we will have lists available in worship and at the luncheon. It is as simple as picking up a list and starting to pray. The world our students navigate is populated with difficulties, dangers, and distractions. Let’s live into our baptismal commitments and pray for our students. At church on Sunday, pick up a prayer list – they look like popsicles - and resolve to pray for those students for the entire school year.
WEAR YOUR NAME TAGS
With the one combined service this week, we are likely to encounter folks we don’t see that often. That makes this a great week to hunt for your Vineville name tag. Let’s all make an effort to find and wear our name tags. There are lots of new faces around the church and we have visitors every Sunday. Name tags make it easier to get connected and provide a reminder when a name just won’t come to mind.

If you can’t find your name tag, fill out a form and place it on the offering plate or leave it on the reception desk. Forms can be found in the CLC lobby and the narthex of the sanctuary as well as in all adult Sunday school classes.
CHILDREN'S CHOIR IS ALMOST HERE!
Children's choir rehearsals will return on Wednesday, August 23rd! Choir with the children is a highlight of my week, and I can't wait to get back. I love sharing stories and messages of faith with them through music. I am also excited to be introducing Boomwhackers to both choirs, and Oasis will get reacquainted with handbells.

We have two children's choirs at Vineville. Our Hosanna preschool choir is for all children ages 2K-5K. Our Oasis elementary choir is for 1st-5th graders. We will once again meet at 5:00 in the Dining Room for pizza and playground time and then split into our choir groups. Pickup will be at 7:00. See you on the 23rd!
