Hello Readers!

We hope you’re having a wonderful summer, enjoying time with your family and friends!

Here at Levanta Tu Voz, our team has been on a summer road trip, meeting with Latinos across the state to hear how California’s energy policies are affecting them. From the Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, to the L.A. Latino Chamber Business Expo in Pomona, we’ve heard from hundreds of you, and your message is clear: California’s energy policies must be fair for Latinos!

We’re excited to highlight some of your stories on our YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@LevantaTuVozWSPA. There, you’ll hear directly from a wide range of business owners and employees about their concerns with how California’s aggressive energy policies impact our businesses, our livelihood, and our community.

We encourage you to watch these videos. If they inspire you to raise your voice, follow these three simple steps to ensure your elected officials understand your needs and hear your concerns:

1.    Go to Join Us on the LTV website

2.    Submit a short message telling legislators about your concerns

3.    Record or upload a short video of photo of yourself

From there, we’ll make sure your elected officials hear what you have to say.

Next month, our summer road trip continues through Central and Northern California. We’ll meet with more Latino business owners, employees, and families to listen to their concerns and tell their stories. We look forward to sharing what they have to say.

Until then, thank you once again for your ongoing support. Your stories are not only inspiring us, but also encouraging other Latinos to raise their voices and demand energy solutions that are fair.

Visit us at www.levantatuvoz.org for more information and be sure to share with family and friends so they too can make their voices heard.

Cheers to you,

Argelia León

Director of Levanta Tu Voz and Strategic Partnerships and Southwest Policy, Western States Petroleum Association

What will happen to gas prices and taxes if California shifts away from fossil fuels?

“Gavin Newsom just made living in California even more expensive by raising California’s gas tax once again while refusing California Republicans’ calls to suspend it,” Jessica Millan Patterson, state GOP chairwoman, said in a statement. “Californians continue to pay the highest gas prices and endure some of the worst roads in the nation.”

“It is a very good idea, but it is detrimental to those of us who cannot afford to modify new tools or to spend more money for no reason.”

'“This law is only for the 'wealthy' and not for the community in general. I cannot and would not spend what little I could save on a new car.”

Improving air quality and fighting climate change will only work if the solutions are possible for everyone. We want to tell policymakers that everyday Californians need real solutions that work for all of us – not just the wealthy.
