Impact Day 2024- June 7th (This Friday)

This Friday, we will visit Walker Jones Middle School and Kelly Miller Middle School to recruit 7th and 8th graders for the College Bound Program. You will be divided into two groups to share your College Bound experience with the middle school students. June Student Checklist


  • If a job or internship has not been secured, continue to submit job applications.
  • Stay productive during the summer. Remember the summer is a great time to build your resume and apply for scholarships!
  • Visit the College Bound office when you are at home – volunteer if possible.
  • Check your college portal or contact your financial aid office for your aid award letter for the upcoming year. Review your award letter. Remember that you do not have to accept the full amount of loans offered. Make sure all financial aid and housing arrangements are set for the school year.
  • Review your fall class schedule and make sure you are on track to graduate in four years. 
  • Prepare yourself for the fall semester.
  • Participate in the VMP Summer Social. Remember if you are not able to attend any VMP event, you must contact the VMP Coordinator prior to the event to make alternative arrangements when possible.

FIRST® x UNCF Scholars Program

Deadline: June 6th

Amount: Up to $10,000

GPA Requirement: 2.5

Description: This scholarship is for FIRST® program alumni who are graduating high school seniors or current college students. Applicants must enroll at a four-year, US located, accredited college or university that is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution, an Asian American and Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution, a Tribal College, or a Historically Black College or University. Applicants must be US citizens or lawful permanent resident and complete the FAFSA. Previous recipients may reapply.

Herb Block Scholarship

Deadline: June 5th

Amount: Up to $8,000/year and $16,000/recipient

GPA Requirement: N/A

Description: This scholarship is for students attending community colleges in the DC metro area. US citizens/nationals, lawful permanent residents, DACA recipients, and VA/MD Dreamers are eligible.

LeBlanc/Baker Scholarship for Change

Deadline: June 6th (deadline extended)

Amount: Up to $4,000/year

GPA Requirement: Between 2.0-3.0

Description: This scholarship is for Black/African American, male graduating seniors from DC who will attend an accredited, four-year HBCU in fall 2024. Applicants must complete the FAFSA. US citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required. Preference is given to DCPS students.

Toni K. Allen Scholarship

Deadline: June 7th

Amount: $12,500

GPA Requirement: 3.0

Description: This scholarship is for DCPS, DC public charter school, and DC homeschool students who will enroll full-time at an accredited four-year college/university beginning in fall 2024

2024-2025 ConocoPhillips Last Dollar Scholarship

Deadline: June 10th

Award: Up to $3,1872.

GPA: 3.0

Description: The ConocoPhillips Last Dollar Scholarship opportunity is open to rising juniors and seniors who will be enrolled full-time at a UNCF Member Institution or other accredited HBCU for the 2024-2025 academic year. Applicants must have a declared major in a STEM-related discipline, or accounting, finance, human resources, or information technology. Recipients will receive a one-time scholarship of up to $3,187 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Description: These scholarships are for graduating high school seniors and current trade school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Requirements and selection criteria vary by scholarship.

2024-2025 UNCF STEM Scholars Program

Deadline: June 13th

Award: Up to $25,000

GPA: 3.0

DescriptionThe UNCF STEM Scholars Program is an initiative designed to identify and provide scholarship and academic support for African American high school students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and to pursue careers in STEM fields, awarding 100 scholarships on an annual basis. The program enables highly capable young people to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions


2024-2025 EESI Future Climate Leaders Scholarship Program

Deadline:June 13th

Award: $4,000

GPA: 2.75

Description: In partnership with UNCF, the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) has developed the EESI FUTURE CLIMATE LEADERS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM to provide merit-based scholarships to support 3 minority students who are preparing for a career related to environmental, energy, or climate issues. Open to students who will be enrolled as a sophomore or junior in Fall 2024 at an HBCU in the Mid-Atlantic or Southern Region.


2024-2025 UNCF Lam Research Scholarship

Deadline: June 14th

Award: $5,000.00

GPA: N/A

Description: The UNCF Lam Research Scholarship Program will provide merit-based scholarships of $5,000 each to African American/Black undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full time at UNCF Member Institutions majoring in Chemical/Electrical/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering, Computer or Materials Science, Chemistry, or Physics. Awards will be disbursed in the 2024-2025 academic year.

Amount: $2,500

GPA Requirement: N/A

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate/graduate students who are currently pursuing or plan to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies, Ecology, Land Use, Earth & Atmosphere Sciences, Sustainable Land Management, Environmental Biology, and/or Sustainable Agriculture Systems. Applicants must be US citizens or lawful residents.

Laborde Earles Cancer Scholarship

Deadline: June 15th

Amount: $2,500

GPA Requirement: 3.0

Description: This scholarship is open to all college applicants planning to study medicine, public health, toxicology, or another related field. Applicants must be admitted to or currently attending a college or university (or graduate school) and write a policy brief to their Congressperson or local politician detailing the gaps in current policy and why increased regulations will be good for public health.


Isenberg Alcohol Addiction Awareness Scholarship

Deadline: June 15th

Amount: $1,000

GPA Requirement: 3.0

Description: This scholarship is for students currently enrolled in or formally accepted to any accredited U.S. community college, undergraduate or graduate degree program. Scholarship candidates must possess a history of raising alcohol addiction awareness, as demonstrated by volunteer, educational, or professional experiences. Scholarship candidates must be in good academic standing. Applicants must be US citizens or lawful permanent residents.

2024-2025 Editorial Freelancers Association Ruth Mullen Scholarship

Deadline: June 17th

Award: $5,000

GPA:

Description: The Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA) is proud to sponsor $5,000 scholarships for the upcoming academic year. Two scholarships are for undergraduates attending an Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and one for an HBCU graduate attending graduate school. The scholarships are for students in a degree program leading to employment in the publishing or communications industry, or a career that could lead to becoming an EFA member.

Horatio Alger Association Career and Technical Education Scholarships

Deadline: June 17th

Amount: Varies

GPA Requirement: N/A

Description: Complete one application to compete for multiple scholarships. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors or high school graduates under age 35 who will pursue an associate degree, certificate, or diploma program that will lead to employment. Applicants must also demonstrate critical financial need. US citizenship is required.


2024-2025 PSEG Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: June 20th

Award: Up to $5,000

GPA: 2.75

PSEG Foundation Scholarship is directed to African-American freshman, who are attending a four-year accredited college or university for the 2024-25 Academic year. The candidates must have permanent residency in the state of New Jersey.

Minority Women in Sports Medicine Scholarship*

Deadline: June 20th

Amount: Up to $1,000

GPA Requirement: 3.0

Description: This scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate/graduate students studying athletic training, physical therapy, exercise science, pre-medical studies, kinesiology, exercise physiology, or other programs that provide a direct service to athletics. High school seniors must have completed 100+ hours of community service. Applicants must be a student member of Minority Women in Sports Medicine or receive a nomination from an existing professional member. The application requires an essay, a transcript, and the FAFSA (if completed).


Delon Hampton & Associates African Americans in STEM Scholarship

Deadline: June 20th

Amount: Up to $10,000

GPA Requirement: 3.0

Description: This scholarship is for African American students pursing a non-medical STEM degree. Preference is given to engineering applicants. Graduating high school seniors and current college students may apply. Applicants must be US citizens or lawful permanent residents.


2024-2025 The Slater-Millner Scholars Fund

Deadline: June 24th

Award Up to $2,500

Description: The Slater-Millner Scholars Fund scholarship program will provide need-based scholarships to rising college sophomores planning to study Allopathic or Osteopathic Medicine with a demonstrated interest in becoming a doctor. Participants will receive a scholarship of up to $2,500 in their sophomore year, renewable for up to $5,000 in their junior year and up to $7,500 in their senior year, and will participate in a professional mentoring program.

Jack and Jill of America Foundation Scholarship

Deadline: June 24th

Amount: Up to $2,500

GPA Requirement: 3.0

Description: This scholarship is for Black/African American graduating high school seniors who have completed at least 60 hours of active community service between June 2023 and June 2024. Applicants must enroll as incoming freshmen at an accredited, four-year college/university in the US. Applicants must be US citizens or lawful permanent residents. The FAFSA is required. The application requires a transcript, essay, reference, and documentation of community service. This scholarship is renewable.


2024-2025 Jack and Jill - Jacqueline Moore Bowles Scholarship

Deadline: June 24th

Award: Up to $2,500

The Jack and Jill of America Foundation - Jacqueline Moore Bowles Scholarship will provide a one-time need-based scholarship of up to $2,500 to service-oriented undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of 60 hours of community service within the last 12 months. Awards will be issued in the 2024-2025 academic year.


2024-2025 Jack and Jill of America Foundation

Deadline: June 24th

Award: Up to $2,500

The Jack and Jill of America Foundation Scholarship will provide need-based scholarships of up to $2,500 to service-oriented rising college freshmen who have completed a minimum of 60 hours of community service within the last 12 months. Awards will be issued in the 2024-2025 academic year, and may be renewed annually through the senior year.


2024-2025 Reboot Representation UNCF Scholarship Program.

Deadline: June 26th

Award: $5,000.00

GPA: 2.75

DescriptionNEO Philanthropy, Inc., in collaboration with UNCF, created the Reboot Representation UNCF Scholarship Program to award need-based scholarships to female students who are Black, African American, and/or of African descent who are pursuing a degree in a Computing Field during their junior and senior year of college


2024-2025 AlixPartners MBA Scholarship

Deadline: June 26th

Award: $10,000

Description: The AlixPartners

MBA Scholarship Program will provide a one-time $10,000 merit-based scholarship to first-year MBA students attending one of the 30 top-ranked US business schools. Applicants must have received (or will be receiving in spring 2024) a bachelors degree from a selected HBCU. Awards will be disbursed in the 2024-2025 academic year.
