Here's to the next five years!

River House ODU Regatta Private Watch Party
On the Lafayette River in Norfolk, the team at River House Apartments recently hosted a private watch party for the 2018 Old Dominion University Big 12 Duals Head-to-Head Rowing Regatta Race. Although it was a rainy day, many attendants cheered on the ODU rowing Monarchs in the clubhouse and pool deck. The teams that participated were Texas, West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Old Dominion.

NOVA Managers Team Event
Matt McBroom, Vice President of Property Operations recently took his managers out to Muse Paint Bar in Woodbridge, VA. The managers were guided through two lively hours of creativity and laughing till their cheeks hurt. The best part? You didn't have to be an artist to have an amazing time. The Abbey at South Riding Manager, Destiny Pardo said, "Things like this are what makes me love the company I work for even more".

Be the Solution Winners Solution
Congratulations to the following team members for taking extraordinary measures to  Be the Solution  at their communities:

Sharon Scott, Compliance Manager, Fort Chaplin Park
Sharon was nominated by Marie Peace, Vice President of Compliance, for exceeding her expectations every day. Marie wrote, "Sharon started at Fort Chaplin in January 2018 with an incredible amount of work and deadlines she knew would be almost impossible to achieve. Being the determined person she is, she saw it as a challenge and she welcomed it. Not only has she met those impossible challenges; in many cases she's exceeded them. With the help of other TFJG employees she was able to document eligibility of almost 500 current residents of the community in less than 30 days, she's fixed income discrepancies for the 72 HAP units and put together an incredible compliance team. With Sharon's leadership and positive attitude, her team has been able to get the compliance piece of the Fort Chaplin puzzle in place and stable allowing everything else to move forward and bring the community to the next level."

Priscilla Melvin, Assistant Community Manager, Waterford Pointe
Priscilla was nominated by her manager, Seneca Lynn, for her hard work and dedication to the team. Seneca wrote: "Priscilla started in the Maintenance department in 1999 and was promoted to Assistant Manager for the leasing office in 2011. On 3.19.2018 our community had a P.N.C file audit, and Priscilla made sure all the 120 files were ready and good to go prior to the file audit. Priscilla has not only met the challenge but shows the hard effort and dedication she put into her job every day. Not to mention Priscilla Melvin received an overall asset evaluation from P.N.C. which stated "Excellent" on our file audit.

Arlando Alston, Maintenance Supervisor, Somerset at Town Center
Arlando was nominated by his manager, Muriel Harden, as well as, Matt Hacker, VP of Property Operations, for his incredible response to a fire on the property. Muriel wrote: "We had a fire and Arlando has been working all times of the day and night making sure residents were taken care of and that the contractors could get in each and every apartment that was damaged. He worked all these long hours with a smile on his face. I just want him to know how much the residents and the staff here appreciate him. The Fire Marshall also thanked him for his quick response." Matt wrote: "During our recent fire he was instrumental with the clean up process and has always been a valuable asset to the property."

Donna McDowell, Community Manager, The Crossings at Heritage
Donna was nominated by Pam Jennings, Assistant Community Manager, for contributing her unique expertise and quick problem solving skills. Pam wrote: "I would like to nominate Donna for "Be The Solution" recognition based on her ability to solve problems through resourcefulness, 'win-win' solutions, and creative thinking. Yesterday, while replacing the partition walls on our residents' back patio, a vendor discovered a swarm of bees. The vendor immediately brought the problem to Donna's attention, suggesting an exterminator. Donna sprang into action. Donna took a more inventive approach - she reached out to a beekeeper that she knew. And that beekeeper contacted other beekeepers until one was found that could capture and relocate. Donna took a potentially harmful situation and turned it into a win-win, beautiful, and life-saving situation for all involved. Donna is truly "BEE the solution" team leader and deserves this recognition.
