JT Walk & Beach Party
A crowd of blue and gray lined the Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Sunday, October 8th for the 10th Annual JT Walk & Beach Party. More than 3,000 walkers enjoyed the beautiful day on the boardwalk, Family Fun Zone, Neptune Treasure Hunt, and music from Cole Swindell and Jana Kramer.  Thank you to all of our TFJG walkers and team captains for helping  raise more than $115,000. The walk had a total of $1.1 million raised in funds towards completing Camp Grom, and in contributions to ALS Research, Wounded Warriors, Gold Star Families, and Disabled Children. We couldn't have done it without your  participation - and your many steps!

FiveStars - Customer Loyalty Shout Out
High fives to our team members at Greenwich Village Apartments in Virginia Beach for their outstanding customer service. A resident recently wrote,  "I just moved into an apartment community  and I am so happy with the whole experience so far. Jesse and Aimee at the leasing office are beyond helpful. Jesse had showed us the apartment and she was able to answer all of my questions in depth. And with having my mother who was with me who is a real estate agent, we were both impressed with how helpful and knowledgeable she was. And Aimee is the definition of amazing customer service, she is so helpful and organized and made moving in and the process of paperwork easy as it could be! Both of these women should be recognized for their expertise in customer service and I would highly recommend these apartments". 

Maintenance Mania
Congratulations to Forrest Dyer from Carolina Spring in Carrboro, North Carolina. He recently participated in "Maintenance Mania". It is a national program offered by National Apartment Association with HD Supply as the presenting sponsor. Maintenance technicians compete against each other in various skill-based games. Congratulations to Forrest who came in 3rd place citywide!
Southern Pine Mobile App
Southern Pine Apartments in Virginia Beach launched their white-label mobile app in December of 2016. Check out the amazing engagement stats they've seen in less than a year:
  • 65% residents have downloaded the app; and 86% of them use the app on a weekly basis
  • Messages: average 82% open rate messages from management sent via the app (that's double the industry average!)
  • Maintenance requests: 217 of 239 units have opened more than one request via the app YTD. 
  • Amenity space reservations: 1,247 reservations YTD, made by 232 residents (that's 5.4 reservations per resident!) - 
    • 917 reservations for the bowling alley
    • 158 reservations for the sports media center
    • 164 reservations for the grill areas
    • 60% of units have booked a space!
  • Calendar: All of these reservations appear in the amenity calendar view feature, making it simple for management to see the scheduling for the entire community.

Congratulations to the following team members for taking extraordinary measures to  Be the Solution  at their communities: 

Melissa Pullin, Training Specialist 
Melissa was nominated by Margaret Reinhardt, Portfolio Manager, for her excellent support for the site teams. Margaret wrote: "She scheduled one of the nexus meetings in NC to accommodate 6 team members to minimize travel and inconvenience. She also handled all the details including food to make the meeting productive. She was also accommodating when I asked to change the start time by an hour so we don't have to get up early". 

Karen Brown, Leasing Specialist for Somerset Town Center
Karen was nominated by her manager, Muriel Harden, for her compassion and dedication to her work. Muriel wrote "The background of working at a homeless shelter for 18 years made Karen the perfect fit for our community. Karen has worked here for 8 years and takes a lot of pride in her work, and she is loyal and dedicated to the Seniors. She makes all of the residents feel very important and they appreciate her hard work just as much as I do as the Manager here." 

Dee McCabe, Compliance Specialist 
Dee was nominated by multiple people! Dee has been consistently praised for her helpful nature and great work ethic. It is truly impressive. Kathy Panarella wrote: "Dee and I were friends for a long time prior to working with her for TFJG. She was the one that referred me to apply for the position and I don't regret one moment of my decision. This company is everything Dee said it is FANTASTIC. Dee has been there since day one when I started and is there every day I need her. She goes above and beyond to make sure all files are completed and if needed she will call you and walk you through the process if needed. There are times she will go out of her way and complete what is needed in order for your applicant to be approved and move in on time. You can call her anytime of the day with a question and she is always willing to listen and give guidance. She truly knows the meaning of team work. I could go on and on how much the staff at Aquia appreciate and love her for all she does for us. We could not do our jobs without her." 

Charles Agyemang, Maintenance Technician for River Run
Charles was nominated by a couple of his teammates at River Run. He was nominated for keeping his focus on customer service and having a good attitude during a stressful time. His CM, Arista Lueck, wrote: "Not only has Charles assisted in all areas related to the emergencies, he's diligently knocked out service requests to ensure our residents are taken care of and not "forgotten". Charles has taken the time this week to visit with one of our resident to celebrate her newly awarded US citizenship."

Gabe Campbell, Maintenance Supervisor, Northern Virginia
Gabe was nominated by multiple teammates, both onsite and corporate. He also received recognition from the Asset Manager for Standard Property Company, Lindsay Pomponi, who went out of her way to ensure that TFJG knew just how great of a team member we have in Gabe. She wrote: "Fort Chaplin is very challenging property. The apartments have years of deferred maintenance and we're undergoing a very major renovation. Instead of saying "that's not possible," Gabe has embraced all of the challenges with a positive attitude and with the goal of finding solutions. He has a lot going on but is so focused, resourceful and positive every time I see him. He joined in a monthly construction meeting with ownership today, and very much impressed Nathan and Tracy, (who runs our Construction group) who were both in town. He's had such a positive impact on the site in 4 weeks. Thank you and great job to Gabe"

Happy Boss Day 
Matt Hacker, Regional Portfolio Manager was surprised with a special singing telegram from his two Community Managers, Amber Friedman (Arbor Lake) and Sincere Jeffries (Oaks of Dunlop). 

River House  Yappy Hour Pool "Pawty"
River House Apartments in Norfolk hosted their second annual puppy pool "pawty". Dog owners and non-dog owner spectators came and watched their pup swim and enjoyed a hot dog bar and beverages as well as puppy cakes and dog treats!

Summer House Halloween Party
Halloween is just around the corner and it's a great time to create a fun experience for the residents. Summer House in Virginia Beach hosted a Halloween costume party. Our personal favorite is the social butterfly!

Springhouse 
S'Mores Night!
Springhouse residents in Newport News came home one evening and enjoyed S'Mores Night! They gathered close to the fire and made some tasty treats. This gave residents the opportunity to catch up with their neighbors and talk about what's happening in the neighborhood. 

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
The entire month of October our teams were dedicated to wearing the color pink in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Thank you for sharing your photos with us, Fort Chaplin & Southern Pine!
