Sneak Peak....
June, 2021 Special Event
Stay tuned for VIM's June Fundraising Event! VIM is not federally funded and does not charge for services. The Clinic is truly a nonprofit 501 c 3 organization offering free healthcare services to families that work with a low household income and can't afford insurance. VIM is for the community, by the community. Your continued generosity will provide critical services that would otherwise be unattainable to our hard working low income neighbors in need of hope, health and healing.
VIM Free Dental Clinic- High Demand Resource
The Volunteers in Medicine Dental Clinic offers high demand, FREE dental services. On a national level, the amount of adults without dental insurance is estimated to be three times those without medical insurance. That could potentially equate to approximately 100,000 of the population in Luzerne County with no dental insurance. Employed adults lose more than 14 million hours of work each year due to dental disease.

VIM is in need of volunteer dentists to help get our neighbors out of pain. Many patients visit the clinic with abscesses and tooth decay, making it difficult to eat, work and smile. All patients are extremely appreciative and understand the dental provider is generously offering their time and expertise. Some of the specialty dentists will see our patients in their own offices. Any amount of time dedicated to VIM by a dental provider, is extremely helpful.

Make a difference in the lives of our low income neighbors and join the VIM team.

Patient Success Story
Patient is a 48 year old female who has been utilizing services at VIM since 2016. For many years, she has had high blood pressure and experienced feeling "off". She was resistant to taking any medicine but was finally convinced in January of 2021 to try a low dose of lisinopril. She came for a return follow-up visit in February and was ecstatic stating she "feels in control again due to sleeping better and having more energy." She is very thankful and appreciative for all the help she has received at VIM.
A 57 year old African American male came to VIM in the Spring of 2019 with a history of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and also smoked. He enrolled in our smoking cessation program with our Clinical Pharmacist and finally quit smoking after many years of failed attempts. When he first came to VIM, his blood pressure was dangerously high at times (170/100) and his HgbA1c was 9.6%. After visits with the VIM Care Team, his blood pressure (120/76) and his diabetes are continually well controlled (6.5%). He states "I love VIM because they take the time to address all of my problems and not rush our appointments. Everyone at VIM is very kind and I have never felt better. "
