Village Of Glen Ellyn Issues Boil Order

As a result of a large water main break that occurred at the Roosevelt Road crossing near the DuPage River, the Village is issued a boil order that went in to effect earlier today. The water main has been isolated and there is no further risk of river water entering the water main.

The boil order is being issued for the areas that are bounded by Roosevelt Road to the south, Baker Hill Drive to the west, Route 53 to the north and Finley Road to the east. To view a map of the area, please click here.

The reason that the boil order has been issued is because this particular area experienced a drop in overall water pressure that may have gone under 20 PSI as a result of the main break. The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires water purveyors to issue a boil order when water pressure drops below 20 pounds per square inch.

Customers in this area should boil water for at least five (5) minutes before consuming. The boil order will remain in effect until laboratory sampling confirms that the water quality is confirmed to be safe. This will be the afternoon of Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the earliest. The Village will notify the public once confirmation is received. If water was consumed prior to learning about the boil order there is no risk, the boil order is a precaution that is required by the IEPA.

Please call the Glen Ellyn Public Works Department at 630-469-6756 if you have questions or need further information related to this issue.
