The first week of rehearsal for VENUS IN FUR has been a dream come true.

Have you ever worked with someone that you felt was on your same wave-length?  It makes everything seem possible.  Ideas flow easily and conversations lead to wonderful discoveries.

Now imagine having an entire team of people working together in this way.  That's the current situation I find myself in.  I've got a dream cast, design team, and crew all working together to create this really funny, sexy, little play.

In rehearsal, it took us an hour to get through a ten minute scene because we couldn't stop laughing, and not just about the play.  About anything and everything. We're giddy to be working together.

We have two weeks until this show opens and, selfishly, I want these weeks to move slowly.  It is a rare treat to get to work with a group of artists that are this talented, creative, and fun.

I can't wait for you to see how it all comes together.

Looking forward to seeing you at the theatre... in 2 (hopefully long) weeks!

Deanna McGovern on playing Vanda

We invited Deanna McGovern back to Vermont Stage to play "Vanda" in Venus in Fur after her tour-de-force performance as Brazilian maid "Matilde" in our hit production of The Clean House.  Here's what she had to say about returning to Vermont and playing another challenging role.

"Vanda and Matilde are quite different women and I am very fond of them both - for different reasons. I love Matilde's incredibly dry sense of humor and the beautiful way she sees the world. Vanda is a force. She is wild. She is intelligent. She has no limits and pushes others to their limits."
