VEIAA Newsletter: Edition 1 - Fall 2019

Hello VEIAA members and welcome to the first edition of the VEIAA newsletter! We will be releasing this newsletter twice a year to welcome and introduce the new VEI graduates from the fall and spring graduating class and to keep you in touch with upcoming events and VEIAA happenings. We hope you find this newsletter informative and are open to any suggestions for the next newsletter.

A key feature of the VEI is the opportunity to discuss and address real issues being encountered by state government. As part of the VEI experience, each participant works in a small group on a critical problem facing the commonwealth.

Choosing Civility:The Twenty-Five Rules of Considerate Conduct by P.M. Forni. This book reinforces the importance of civility as a central component that fosters improved relationships in our public and private lives.

The Moment of Lift: How Empowering Women Changes the World by Melinda Gates. The book examines issues of gender inequality worldwide as well as lessons learned from inspiring women Melinda has met during her work across the globe .

Until We Reckon: Violence, Mass Incarceration, and A Road to Repair by Danielle Sered. Widely recognized as a strong proponent of restorative justice, the author dives into violence, victims’ needs, and the criminal justice system, and offers new approaches geared toward helping everyone and ending mass incarceration.

VEIAA Mission and Objectives

The why of your Alumni Association

Mission:

To extend the VEI experience by providing opportunities for education, professional training, leadership development, and networking with fellow alumni and state leaders to achieve enhanced performance of state government.

Objectives:

Develop opportunities for Alumni to learn, connect, serve and lead.
To provide continuing education in leadership development.
Enhance communication and collaboration opportunities among state government executives.
Create a forum to recognize and promote the qualities and assets of the VEIAA.
To actively recruit participants for VEI.

VEIAA Dues

Join your Alumni Association for the year!

The VEIAA Board understands the important value of your membership in the Association and takes very serious our charge to “develop opportunities for Alumni to LEARN, CONNECT, SERVE and LEAD."

We have already been busy planning specific events to close out 2019 and into 2020. Join and support your VEIAA for only $40 in annual dues. This $40 investment covers your participation at all VEIAA events, access to the VEIAA Facebook account, our Newsletter, specific “swag” items, and opportunities to serve on various planning committees throughout the year.
