Future of the Ocean Symposium Videos Now Online

A full-length recording and a series of outtakes from the 16th Annual Future of the Ocean Symposium can now be viewed on the event website. The UCI convened a panel of leading voices in marine science and policy in April 13 for a conversation on where the nation is succeeding and falling short in its efforts to catalyze innovation and action to address climate change’s impacts to our oceans.

UCI Awards Heidi Lynn Sculthorpe Scholars Grants for Five Summer Research Projects

The UCI will provide funding for eight students and their faculty mentors to research topics ranging from the development of an app that can simulate the risk of hurricane property damage in communities to threats turtles face in densely populated suburbs.

Monmouth Students Developing Mobile Version of Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal Map Viewer

A team of Monmouth University computer science students has created a mobile app version of the Mid-Atlantic Ocean Data Portal that will allow Android and iPhone users to quickly search and view thousands of maps showing natural features and human activities at sea.

Study Finds Stock Status Unknown for Hundreds of U.S. State-Managed Fisheries

A study co-authored by UCI Fisheries and Ocean Conservation Fellow Jay Odell probed the condition of over 300 fisheries selected from a pool of nearly 2,000 state-managed, territory-managed and unmanaged fisheries in the U.S.
